    Senior Human Resources Generalist:

    Legal Counsel for Youth and Children (LCYC) seeks a passionate, collaborative, and innovative Senior Human Resources Generalist who shares our commitment to social justice and anti-racism. We are looking for a strategic HR leader who thrives on balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced professional services environment. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, you will deliver both strategic leadership and day-to-day HR support aligned with LCYC’s values and will serve as a trusted advisor to drive impactful people strategies.

    This role spans the full employee lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. You’ll play a critical role in attracting, developing and retaining top talent while continuously improving how HR work is delivered through innovation, process optimization, and values alignment.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

    This is a full-time, overtime exempt, salaried position. LCYC employees have some flexibility in setting their schedules each week. Greater flexibility in scheduling allows employees to achieve better individual balance between work and home.

    The salary range for this position is $80,000-$110,000.

    Supportive benefits include but are not limited to Flexible Time Away, medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 403(b) plan, and paid home office needs such as laptop computer, stand-up desk, and printer.

    LCYC does not have a shared office space. All staff work from home offices. This position is open to an individual who resides in King County or within 60 miles of Seattle; occasional travel to Seattle will be required. Travel for work is compensated at the Federal reimbursement rate.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Aligned with LCYCs mission, values, and principles.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required; HR certifications are preferred.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources management or senior HR generalist roles.
    • Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred.
    • Strong proficiency with HRIS platforms, such as Rippling, and related systems.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
    • Ability to handle complex and sensitive employee matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
    • Highly organized, efficient professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates sound judgment and initiative.
    • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain dependable under pressure.
    • Outstanding project management skills and administrative excellence. Ability to excel in managing shifting timelines, multiple responsibilities, and meeting deadlines.

    • Creative problem-solver with the ability to think critically and outside the box.

    JOB DUTIES:

    The Sr. HR Generalist will take on a range of duties including but not limited to the list below. The position will adapt to the needs of the organization and the community.

    • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee onboarding, orientation, offboarding, and employee transitions, including coordination of leaves of absence and other milestones.
    • Employee Relations & Performance Support: Serve as the primary HR contact for staff, addressing employee relations matters, including investigations, and guiding performance management processes.
    • Strategic Partnership & Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, supporting organizational design, change management, and workforce planning.
    • Compliance Policy Interpretation: Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and recommend updates to policies and practices to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws, maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures, and communicate & respond to inquiries about policies and initiatives
    • Benefits Administration: Oversee and administer open enrollment and employee benefits programs, including partnering with brokers and vendors to evaluate and enhance benefits offerings, ensuring compliance with benefits-related regulations, and serving as the primary point of contact for complex benefits issues and escalations
    • Projects & Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in current practices, lead and execute complex HR projects, including compliance initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements, and support organizational change efforts with a focus on communication, compliance, and adoption
    • Engagement & Wellness Initiatives: Drive employee engagement and wellness programs that foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
    • Recruiting & Hiring: Lead the staff recruitment process in partnership with hiring managers, including assessing staffing needs, developing job descriptions, interviewing candidates, and preparing offers of employment.
    • HR Systems: Ensure HR systems and employee records are accurate and up to date
    • Payroll: Assist with payroll processes and audits

We have four program areas: child welfare, juvenile court, youth and family immigration, and youth homelessness.
