    Pantry Operations & Volunteer Coordinator

    Part-time pantry operations, volunteer coordination and client service

    Reports to

    Executive Director and Board

    Coordinates

    Pantry volunteers, distribution activities and routine vendor/food-bank contacts, all vendor reporting and relationships.

    Schedule

    25 hours per week; regular on-site hours with occasional evenings and weekends. First few months of employment, up to 40 hrs/week authorized.

    Compensation

    $21-$27 per hour, depending on experience

    Position summary

    The Pantry Operations & Volunteer Coordinator manages Mission Nutrition's day-to-day pantry activity. The Coordinator ensures that food is ordered, received, stored and distributed safely and accurately; volunteers are prepared and supported; records are complete; and every person is treated with respect and dignity. This is a hands-on role that combines logistics, volunteer leadership, client service and consistent follow-through.

    Essential responsibilities

    Pantry and inventory operations

    • Coordinate food ordering, donation intake, pickups, deliveries, storage, stocking and distribution according to established schedules and budgets.
    • Maintain accurate inventory and distribution records; monitor product levels, expiration dates, rotation and storage conditions.

    Volunteer coordination

    • Recruit, schedule, train and support volunteers for pantry, pickup, delivery and special-event assignments.
    • Maintain volunteer contact information, schedules, service hours and required acknowledgments or training records.

    Client service and program records

    • Complete required intake, maintain confidentiality, eligibility, referral and service records accurately and consistently.
    • Track program measures and provide timely operating reports, supply needs and improvement recommendations.

    Safety, compliance and coordination

    • Follow food-safety, sanitation, lifting, vehicle, incident-reporting and emergency procedures.
    • Coordinate routine relationships with food banks, grocery partners, donors and suppliers as assigned.

    Requirements

    Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

    Must be able to pass background check

    Food-safety certification, or willingness to obtain required certification within an established timeframe.

    • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or equipment; reasonable accommodations may be provided.

    Qualifications

    • Strong communicator, bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, dependable, and comfortable directing groups of volunteers.
    • Experience in food service, warehouse or inventory operations, volunteer coordination, customer service or community programming is preferred.
    • Ability to use email, shared calendars, spreadsheets and basic client or inventory record systems.

    Compensation and benefits

    • Flexible work schedule
    • 10 days of paid vacation annually, prorated to the regular work schedule.
    • 6 days of paid sick leave annually, prorated to the regular work schedule.
    • Monthly Health Stipend
    • $500 annual professional-development allowance, reimbursement of approved business mileage at the applicable IRS rate, and a flexible schedule consistent with pantry needs.
