    The Rockefeller Family Fund (RFF) is a U.S.-based, family-led public charity that initiates, cultivates, and funds strategic efforts to promote a sustainable, just, free, and participatory society.

    The Funder Collaborative on Oil and Gas (FCOG) is a special project of RFF. Its core purpose is to limit ongoing oil and gas production, prevent the lock-in of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from new and expanded oil and gas infrastructure (including petrochemicals), and weaken the oil and gas industry’s financial standing and influence.

    Position Summary

    The Rockefeller Family Fund is seeking an aspiring nonprofit professional to serve as a Program Assistant to support the Funder Collaborative on Oil and Gas project. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Oil and Gas, the Program Assistant is responsible for supporting FCOG’s fundraising, grantmaking, financial, and operational systems. The Program Assistant will be an important contributor to advancing FCOG’s mission and program goals. This position offers an opportunity to build solid professional skills and networks through engagement with nonprofits, foundations, and others committed to climate justice.

    RFF’s main office location is 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115. This role is a hybrid role based in the New York area. RFF offers highly competitive compensation and a generous benefits package. This role is nonexempt and overtime eligible.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities

    Programmatic

    • Support the management of FCOG’s grantmaking operations and contracts including working with RFF grants management and finance team.
    • Collaborate with program staff to develop and prepare general memos, web content, documents, and presentations for staff, board members, and external stakeholders.
    • Support FCOG program staff and fundraising team in the development of grant proposals, grant reports, research, and related materials.
    • Maintain general project updates, research reports, and findings on the website.
    • Assist FCOG staff to manage convenings and meetings.
    • Attend meetings with grantees, other organizations, and partners.

    Administrative

    • Support the day-to-day operations of FCOG to ensure coordination of information.
    • Manage team meeting schedule, calendar, and travel itineraries as needed.
    • Manage reimbursement requests and credit card expenses reporting for FCOG Associate Director of Oil and Gas and Senior Advisors.
    • Assist with data entry in grants and CRM databases
    • Work across other RFF program areas to advance institutional goals and collaboration.

    Position Qualifications:

    Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in the use of office computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a sometimes fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
    • Sound judgement and discretion.
    • An ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting.
    • Proven ability to work with a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
    • Willingness and ability to travel, especially for events and meetings organized by the Funder Collaborative on Oil and Gas.
    • Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • BA/BS plus at least one year of experience working in an environmental or climate nonprofit, including internship experience.
    • Experience with database management: Microsoft excel, Airtable, and/or Raiser’s Edge preferred

    Other Requirements

    This position is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, and/or utilize office machinery (e.g., a copy machine/printer).
