    Description

The Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MECASA) is hiring an Prevention Coordinator to join our collaborative, thoughtful, and mission-driven team.

The Prevention Coordinator plays a key part in MECASA’s statewide prevention work. The central goal of this position is to improve the capacity of local sexual assault service providers to engage in evidence-informed primary prevention programming in Maine communities. Primary prevention is aimed at changing the social/environmental conditions that enable sexual violence with the intent of preventing violence before it occurs. The work is a mix of coordination, problem-solving, relationship-building, and creating practical tools and guidance that help prevention advocates do their work more effectively.

    Specific responsibilities will include:

    • ongoing development and maintenance of training and resources for sexual assault support center preventionists, including but not limited to the prevention toolkit, prevention orientation, monthly peer support calls, with an emphasis on collaboration and shared problem-solving.
    • coordination and/or deliver training and develop resources for member centers and sexual violence prevention allies/state partners on a variety of topics related to primary prevention of sexual violence.
    • Support continued implementation of a multi-pronged effort to prevent sexual violence against adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities by providing direction, support and technical assistance to member centers partnering with their communities.

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys both collaborative and independent work, connecting the dots, supporting others, and helping improve how things work — without needing to be the one in charge of every decision.
