    JOB OPENING: PART-TIME DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

    The Oliver Wolcott Library in Litchfield, Connecticut is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Development Director to advance and strengthen fundraising efforts to support the Library’s mission of providing exceptional service to the community in a welcoming environment.

    The Oliver Wolcott Library is the intellectual center of our town. We serve Litchfield and surrounding communities providing engagement, enrichment and information. We are dedicated to excellence, creating a positive work environment, and offering innovative and engaging services and events.     The Oliver Wolcott Library Development Director, working closely with key staff and volunteers, manages and executes our fundraising program and events to support the Library’s mission and our long-term sustainability. This is an exciting and valued position for someone who is passionate about the role libraries play in a community, creative work, and community engagement.

    The ideal candidate is passionate about the mission of libraries and understands how to cultivate and sustain donor relationships. They will drive the design and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, online auction, an annual fundraising gala event, planned giving, and town stewardship.

    This role requires a confident leader who knows how to work with diverse constituents and stakeholders to build donor relationships with authenticity and professionalism and understands how to review and translate data into insights and actionable fundraising plans.

    Hours/Rate/Benefits: This is an on-site, part-time position averaging between 12 and 28 hours a week depending on the time of year. Fewer hours during the first two quarters of the year, and more hours a week during the third and fourth quarters of the year. $42 per hour. Two paid holidays per year. No other benefits.

    Important note: the Library’s biggest fundraising event of the year is on Thanksgiving Weekend. Successful candidate must be able to work 28 to 30 hours for the weeks leading up to, after, and including Thanksgiving Weekend (no work on Thanksgiving Day).
