    REPORTS TO: Dean of Student Affairs

    JOB CATEGORY: Part-time/ Stipend Position

    SUPERVISORY

    RESPONSIBILITY: None

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Provide a faith-based, non- denominational experience for our school community that contributes to the spiritual well-being and character development through a humanity centered approach; as a core primary purpose, all job descriptions are to maintain the mission and vision of The Neighborhood Academy.

    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    1. Serve as a non-denominational spiritual support and counsel for our internal and external (staff, students, families, alumni, community partners) during times of conflict and crisis on an as-needed or requested basis. This may include funerals, hospital visits, house calls, and any other needs.
    2. Act as a daily worship leader for both middle school and high school worship in a manner that includes all religions and beliefs of our interfaith community.
    3. Coordinate other worship leaders from within our internal community, including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, and families.
    4. Organize outside speakers for morning worship, including those from various faiths.
    5. Oversee all major traditional ceremonial events, including but not limited to Convocation, Commencements, and Lessons and Carols.
    6. Attend bi-monthly Board Meetings to open each meeting with a word of prayer
    7. Flexible hours that can accommodate evenings and weekends as needed.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

    ❖ Bachelor’s degree in a social services, theology, or related field required. Master’s

    preferred.

    ❖ Minimum of 2 years of experience in ministry, chaplain, or related experience required.

    REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    ❖ Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate complex tasks and procedures.

    ❖ Excellent organization and supervisory skills.

    ❖ Ability to foster and enrich the spiritual life of a multicultural, multi-faith community.

    Excellent interpersonal, writing, and public speaking abilities.

    ❖ Willingness and ability to work energetically and well with all associated constituencies.

    ❖ Ability to maintain confidentiality and to appropriately navigate sensitive situations.

    ❖ Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
