    Description

“See It and Be It” Program Coordinator (Richmond Area)

    STEAM the Streets | Part-Time Contract | 8-15 hours/week | November–March | $30/hour

    About STEAM the Streets

STEAM the Streets is a mission-driven organization that uses media, music, arts, and STEAM education to connect young people to careers and inspire them to see new possibilities for their futures.

    About the Role

STEAM the Streets is seeking a highly organized, proactive See It and Be It Richmond Area Program Coordinator to support the delivery of our See It and Be It program with our partners at West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) Department of College and Career.

This is a part-time, project-based contract role responsible for coordinating logistics, communication, and school-site readiness across four participating middle schools. The coordinator will help ensure that the program is organized and ready from initial school coordination through the February assembly week and early curriculum implementation.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, comfortable communicating with school staff, and able to manage multiple moving pieces with minimal supervision.

About the See It and Be It Program

See It and Be It is a career exploration program from STEAM the Streets that introduces middle school students to a range of STEAM careers through engaging classroom curriculum and real-world exposure. The program kicks off with our “This Can Be You” career exploration assemblies, followed by classroom-based career exploration that helps students discover new possibilities and pathways for their future.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Preparation & Coordination – November–January

    • Onboard with STEAM the Streets and review existing commitments, timelines, contacts, forms, and planning materials for the four participating schools.
    • Establish and maintain communication with school administrators and teachers at each site.
    • Schedule planning meetings and coordinate follow-up with each school.
    • Coordinate deadlines and readiness activities leading up to the February assemblies.
    • Ensure January deadlines are met for assembly forms, school site visits, technical checks, schedules, and final confirmations.
    • Conduct site visits to assess assembly spaces and document logistics, including room setup, AV/technical needs, parking/loading, student capacity, and arrival procedures.
    • Coordinate technical checks and communicate site-specific needs to the STEAM the Streets team.
    • Maintain a master schedule and program logistics tracker for all four schools.
    • Coordinate catering and materials for the professional development/training session.
    • Support preparation and on-site logistics for the December train-the-trainer session for approximately 8–12 WCCUSD educators.
    • Coordinate pre-program survey follow-up with participating teachers, ensuring teachers understand their role in distributing and completing student pre-surveys.

This Can Be You Assembly Week – February 8-12

The coordinator will serve as the primary on-the-ground logistics support for STEAM the Streets during assembly week, ensuring each school is prepared and the team has what it needs to successfully deliver the assemblies.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Confirm final details with each school prior to arrival.
    • Coordinate arrival times and access with school staff and the STEAM the Streets team.
    • Ensure spaces, equipment, materials, and other site requirements are ready before each assembly.
    • Help coordinate setup and troubleshoot logistical or technical issues that arise.
    • Serve as the on-site point person for school logistics and communicate issues to the Founder / CEO as needed.
    • Assist with breakdown and ensure materials and equipment are accounted for following each assembly.
    • Complete daily follow-up and flag any outstanding issues or changes.

    Program Implementation – March

    • Maintain light-touch communication with participating educators as curriculum implementation begins.
    • Follow up with teachers regarding student surveys and other program information.
    • Conduct occasional school-site check-ins as needed.
    • Track questions, issues, and follow-up items and escalate anything requiring STEAM the Streets leadership.
    • Assist with collecting program feedback and basic participation information.

    Ideal Candidate

    • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable communicating with school administrators, teachers, and education professionals.
    • Reliable, responsive, and able to manage deadlines independently.
    • Comfortable working on-site at schools and during program events.
    • Able to anticipate logistical needs and troubleshoot problems calmly.
    • Experience in education, youth programs, events, or nonprofit program coordination is a plus.
    • Familiarity with WCCUSD or Richmond-area schools is helpful but not required.

    Contract Details

Position: See It and Be It Richmond Area Program Coordinator

    Type: Part-Time Contract

    Term: November–March

Hours: 8–15 hours per week, with a spike in hours during the February 8–12 assembly week

    Rate: $30/hour

Location: Richmond area / Hybrid, with required in-person work at district and school sites during program activities

Reports to: Founder / CEO, STEAM the Streets

    What Success Looks Like

The coordinator keeps the See It and Be It program moving and makes sure each school is prepared, informed, and ready. By the time the STEAM the Streets team arrives at a school, the logistics should be confirmed, the site should be ready, and any potential issues should already be identified and communicated.

    Success means:

    • Each school is informed, prepared, and ready for its scheduled program activities.
    • Assembly logistics are confirmed in advance, potential issues are identified early, and each assembly runs smoothly from arrival through breakdown.
    • Educators have the curriculum materials, resources, and information they need to successfully implement See It and Be It with their students.
    • Teachers receive timely follow-up and support throughout the transition from professional development and assemblies into curriculum implementation.
    • Student pre-surveys and other required program information are completed and collected on schedule.
    • The coordinator stays in regular communication with participating educators, identifies questions or challenges, and ensures issues are addressed or elevated to the Founder / CEO.

Ultimately, success means the four schools are prepared, educators feel supported and equipped, and the See It and Be It program moves from planning to meaningful classroom implementation.
