Position Summary

Deep Center’s Restorative Practices Specialist is a 40 hour/week salaried position that reports directly to the Director of Restorative Practices and Culture.

The Restorative Practices Specialist is a technical assistance provider, facilitator, coach, and thought partner who helps educators translate restorative principles into everyday practice.

This position facilitates professional learning, provides individualized support, and connects educators with practical tools and resources. Through this work, the Specialist advances the goals of Deep Center’s Healing Schools Initiative by helping build school communities where young people and adults experience belonging, agency, strong relationships, and restorative approaches to accountability and conflict.

The Specialist draws from Deep Center’s existing trainings and resources while responding to the needs of different educators and schools. Whether facilitating a professional learning community, troubleshooting a challenge with a teacher, or helping create a Cool Down Corner, they listen closely, ask good questions, identify practical next steps, and follow through.

The Specialist also helps build community among educators. They lead Deep’s Restorative Educator Drop-Ins, contribute to the annual educator Unconference, and assist with the Deep Writing Project, creating opportunities for educators to connect and learn from one another.

This position is a good fit for someone who finds meaning in the incremental work of systems change. They recognize that helping one educator try something different, strengthen a relationship, or turn an idea into practice can contribute to larger changes in school culture.

Role and Responsibilities

Educator Support and Professional Learning

• Facilitate Deep Center workshops and learning communities focused on restorative practices, educator well-being, and school culture.
• Provide individualized coaching, technical assistance, and resources to help educators incorporate restorative principles into their practice.
• Build relationships with educators and school staff to identify needs, troubleshoot challenges, and support next steps.
• Adapt existing Deep tools and training materials, in collaboration with the Director, for different educators and school contexts.
• Manage Deep Center’s Restorative Microgrant program and serve as the primary contact for participating educators.

Program Coordination

• Lead Deep’s Restorative Educator Drop-Ins, creating welcoming opportunities for educators to connect, learn, and reflect together.
• Support the planning and facilitation of educator programs and events, including the annual Unconference and Deep Writing Project.
• Maintain project plans, materials, communication, and logistics across assigned activities.
• Anticipate challenges and communicate proactively to keep projects moving.
• Collect participant feedback and program data and contribute to program reporting.

Skills and Experience

• Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to engage adult learners with different levels of interest, experience, and readiness.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong listening and the ability to constructively navigate disagreement or resistance.
• Working knowledge of how schools operate and the day-to-day realities of educators; professional experience working in or closely with schools preferred.
• Experience providing coaching, technical assistance, professional learning, or other direct support to educators or adults working with young people.
• Ability to understand broad principles and translate them into practical strategies for different situations and settings.
• Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and reliably follow through.
• Curiosity, flexibility, and receptivity to feedback, with an ability to reflect and adjust as circumstances change.
• Commitment to restorative, trauma-informed, and equity-centered approaches, as well as Deep Center’s culture of collaboration, inclusivity, openness, and mutual respect.

Salary Range: $52,000 - $56,000 annually - commensurate with experience
