    Description

    Studio in a School (Studio) is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and collaborative professional with an interest in arts administration to join our team as the Associate Manager, Bloomberg Arts Internship: College (Implementation). The Associate Manager works collaboratively to plan and implement a paid internship program for college students in seven cities focused on career readiness and arts engagement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, student-centered, collaborative, and passionate about cultivating a supportive environment for college students.

    The Associate Manager will report to the Director, Bloomberg Arts Internship: College. This is a full-time, exempt, non-union position and supervises seasonal staff and interns as assigned.

    Studio in a School fosters the creative and intellectual development of young people through quality visual arts programs, directed by professional artists, arts and cultural internships, and apprentice-based learning in the arts. The organization also collaborates with and develops the capacity of classroom teachers, school leadership, and others who provide or support arts programming and creative development for young people both in and outside of schools.

    About Bloomberg Arts Internship: College

    Bloomberg Arts Internship: College is an extension of the summer BAI high school program, administered by Studio in a School and in partnership in Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Washington DC and New York. With generous support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, this paid summer internship cultivates professional growth through arts career-focused workplace experiences.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work collaboratively to execute program timelines and workplans for the summer program in seven cities, with further expansion expected.
    • Support program evaluation data collection in partnership with colleagues in Internship Programs.
    • Support all aspects of pre-program planning, including, including but not limited to:
      • Develop prospective intern and worksite outreach plans, including creating recruitment materials and representing Studio at events.
      • Contribute to the intern application design, management, and review
      • Organize the process to make successful matches between interns and worksites, including collecting information on available worksite projects.
      • Collaborate with the team to coordinate plans for workshops and cultural excursions.
    • Lead the hiring process for part-time, seasonal staff (Project Coordinators); responsibilities include the collection and organization of hiring paperwork; coordinate the onboarding process.
    • Ensure smooth execution of the program throughout the year, including:
      • Supervise part-time seasonal staff (Project Coordinators).
      • Serve as a day-of contact / support for PD workshops and cultural excursions; ensure these programming days are high-quality experiences for interns; including facilitating components as necessary.
      • Assist in approving timesheet entries for mentors and interns; ensure timely review and approval.
    • Conduct research to support continuous program improvement (e.g., prospective worksites, high school connections, vendors, etc.).
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Desired Skills and Background

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of experience with program coordination and comprehensive understanding of
    • career development.
    • Proficiency using project management or workflow software (e.g., Asana, Airtable, Google Workspace, MS 365 including Microsoft Planner, Monday.com or Trello).
    • Proficiency using data management programs, including Salesforce.

    • Self-motivation, assertiveness, positive demeanor, and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment.
    • Strong work ethic with appreciation for deadlines. Adherence to project plans and follow through.
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage projects simultaneously, oversee and track work details and respond flexibly to changes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Able to complete NYC Public Schools Fingerprint and Background Check Clearance upon employment.

    Location

    We are currently working on a hybrid schedule. The Associate Manager will be asked to work at least 2 days

    per week in our office at 75 West End Avenue, New York, NY, or in the field, though this schedule may shift

    and evolve.

    Hours

    As a member of the administrative staff, the Associate Manager is expected to work from 9 AM

    to 5 PM each scheduled workday. Candidates must be available to:

    • Support programs and events outside of regular work hours, such as weekends and evenings.
    • Travel within NYC. Travel within NYC is required as part of the core functions of the position.
    • Travel to cities outside of NYC, including Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
    • Work May through August during peak program operations.

    Salary

    The salary range is $64,000-$73,000. In addition to salary, Studio offers a comprehensive benefits plan as

    part of total compensation.
