    About Abortion Access Front

    Founded in 2015 by Lizz Winstead, Abortion Access Front (AAF) uses humor and outrage to destigmatize abortion and expose extremist, anti-choice forces working to destroy access to reproductive rights across the country. AAF fosters a multicultural, multiethnic and gender-fluid team of comedians, writers, producers, activists and volunteers who create content, stage events and build grassroots support for abortion providers that comes from and speaks to a diversity of life experiences. AAF is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, a 501(c)(3) public charity.

    Position Summary

    The Community Engagement Manager develops and drives the organization’s volunteer program across all our programmatic work- including coordinating cultivation and engagement, events and direct actions, assisting in clinic support programs, and helping to grow collaborative work with partner organizations.

    Location: Remote, NY-Metro / Mid-Atlantic strongly preferred; will require some in-person event preparation and attendance

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Expanding the Abortion Access Front volunteer program, creating opportunities that engage, grow and sustain our volunteer base for all areas of AAF’S work including, but not limited to, community building & outreach, clinic support, direct actions.
    • Managing the vetting of potential volunteers
    • Coordinates the volunteer needs for all AAF departments
    • Creates and manages volunteer leadership programs that train volunteers to become teams for projects and events
    • Helps facilitate guests from our field for Feminist Buzzkills podcast and live show appearances
    • Manages and updates all calendars for events and actions, volunteer databases, and other internal tracking systems
    • Assists with identifying, recommending, and coordinating AAF's clinic support
    • Supports our work countering anti-abortion extremists with research, volunteer coordination for events and actions, and updating related websites
    • Leads our work countering anti-abortion centers including program development, coordinating actions and events, and providing our coalition with updates via our Expose Fake Clinics program
    • Data entry and other administrative tasks associated with programmatic work

    Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

    • Experience in creating and leading volunteer programs
    • Experience in community organizing or progressive campaign work, particularly in volunteer management & activation
    • Demonstrated commitment, knowledge, and passion for reproductive health, rights, and justice
    • Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing a program or project with multiple priorities utilizing strong organizational skills
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team with coworkers, partners, and volunteers
    • Experience working with EveryAction, AirTable, or similar CRM/databases strongly preferred
    • Follows trends and updates regarding news in the Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice fields
    • Comfort with social media copy creation and familiarity with best practices in this sphere
    • Experience using Slack and WordPress is preferred
    • Some travel required, as well as flexibility to attend evening and weekend events
