    Position Summary

    The Development position is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and sustaining the financial resources required to support all aspects of Amplify Arts’ mission and operations. This role leads the organization’s individual giving, grant development, and sponsorship efforts by cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and government funding entities.

    The position develops and implements a comprehensive individual donor strategy to engage, steward, and grow relationships with current and prospective supporters. It also conducts research to identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with Amplify Arts’ mission, goals, and program objectives. This position will lead the preparation, submission, and management/maintenance of grant proposals, reports, and related documentation.

    Working closely with Amplify Arts staff, the Development role ensures fundraising strategies are integrated with organizational priorities, programs, and impact goals. This role also guides and supports earned revenue strategies through partnerships and sponsorships. The position plays a key role in strengthening long-term financial sustainability through strategic planning, collaboration, and effective communication, while representing the organization in donor, funder, and community settings as needed. In addition, this role advances Amplify Arts’ financial sustainability by leading and supporting earned revenue strategies through potential sponsorships.

    Finally, the position supports nonprofit governance and community engagement by working closely with the Board of Directors and Community Advisory Group (CAG). This includes leading all communication and meeting coordination with the Board and CAG by creating agendas, leading meetings, and serving as a liaison between the Board, CAG, and staff. Finally, this position supports programming through project management and evaluation by developing and managing logic models in coordination with program goals.

    As part of the staff, the role contributes to strategic planning, budgeting, and internal communication while helping cultivate a collaborative, inclusive work environment grounded in equity and creativity. It also represents Amplify Arts at community events and partner meetings.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Individual Donor Development

    • Increase donor base and maintain and/or exceed annual individual fundraising budget goals
    • Conduct donor research to identify prospects with capacity and alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
    • In collaboration with the Amplify staff, develop and implement a comprehensive individual donor strategy to cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors.
    • Track and analyze donor engagement metrics to inform ongoing strategies.

    Grant Development & Management

    • Conduct research to identify new local, regional, and national grant opportunities
    • Write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents according to identified national and regional grant opportunities to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and other grant-making entities.
    • Coordinate with Amplify staff to gather required data and ensure grant applications meet all requirements.
    • Manage grant reporting processes, including tracking deadlines, collecting impact data, and submitting final reports.

    Earned Revenue Strategy

    • Develop, manage, and grow earned revenue by identifying sponsorship opportunities aligned with programming.
    • Collaborate closely with staff to align revenue strategies with organizational goals, capacity, and community impact.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and the community to encourage repeat engagements and long-term revenue growth.
    • Support strategic planning efforts that strengthen earned income streams and contribute to overall organizational sustainability.

    Board & CAG Support & Engagement

    • Serve as a primary staff liaison to the Board and CAG, supporting effective communication, coordination, relationship building, and engagement.
    • Assist with the planning and preparation of board meetings, including developing agendas, preparing reports, and supporting follow-up on action items
    • Track and support member participation
    • Support onboarding and orientation for members, ensuring clarity around roles, expectations, and opportunities for involvement.
    • Represent Amplify Arts in meetings with board members, CAG members, donors, and community partners as needed.
    • Support compliance with nonprofit governance best practices related to fundraising and donor stewardship.

    Organizational Leadership & Collaboration

    • Contribute to strategic planning, organizational goal-setting, and collective decision-making.
    • Participate in the development and monitoring of organizational budgets.
    • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven work environment grounded in equity, creativity, and care.
    • Work closely with Amplify staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and priorities.
    • Attend relevant internal meetings and organizational events as needed and represent the organization in donor and funder meetings as needed.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising and development, community engagement, or related roles.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Comfort with self-direction and proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Ability to prioritize relationships, projects, and tasks that support a long-term vision.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting artists and creative communities.

    Preferred:

    • Familiarity with Omaha’s funding landscape and community supporters.
    • Background in the arts, nonprofit, or community and business development sectors.
    • Familiarity with Gmail and Google Business Suite.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    This position is based in Omaha, Nebraska, and requires regular in-person collaboration with team members, partners, and community stakeholders. While some work may be performed remotely, this is not a fully remote role. The position involves a hybrid work environment with a combination of home-based work and in-person meetings, events, and site visits as needed.

    The role requires reliable access to transportation for local meetings and community engagements throughout the Omaha metro area. Evening or weekend availability may occasionally be required for programs or partner events. Candidates must have access to a personal laptop and a stable internet connection to perform essential job functions. This position primarily involves sedentary work at a computer, with occasional light physical activity related to event setup or project installation.     Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $72,100.00
    • Benefits: 403b: contribution match up to 3%, 80% health insurance reimbursement, personal time off (PTO eligibility begins immediately upon hire).
    • Schedule: At Amplify Arts, the usual work week period is 32 hours. Amplify Arts trusts that employees are capable of managing their own schedule. Since Amplify Arts practices person-centered PTO, employees are encouraged to take time to celebrate holidays in a way that honors them. Staff will collectively determine separate, reasonable ‘office closed’ dates as necessary throughout the year, including 13 identified holidays.

    Hiring Timeline and Process

    Though this position will remain open until filled, we anticipate the following timeline and process:

    Timeline:

    Interview process:

    The interview process will include 2 rounds, with the option of in-person or Zoom meetings (depending on the location and preference of the candidate). Amplify will provide each candidate with interview questions at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled interview time.
