Operations Coordinator, The New School
The New School (TNS), an independent four-year high school in Atlanta, offers an innovative curriculum which blends traditional academic study and community engaged learning. Located in the heart of Atlanta, we treat the city as anessential classroom where learning is fueled by students’ curiosity. TNS students apply their classroom learning in the city through major interdisciplinary projects, an entrepreneurship program, and internships, and in the process develop portfolios of exceptional work and experiences. Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and service-oriented Operations Coordinator to join our small private high school community. This role serves as a key point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and visitors while supporting the daily operations of the school office and business office functions.
The ideal candidate is approachable, collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to help others. This individual must be able to balance exceptional customer service with professionalism and accountability. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career professional interested in growth in independent schools or non profit management.
Key Responsibilities
Student Records
- Maintain accurate student records and confidential files
- Assist with attendance tracking, reporting, and communication regarding absences or tardiness
- Support enrollment, withdrawal, and records requests processes
- Assist students and College Counselor with transcript preparation and distribution
- Assist Admissions Director with applicant record management
- Ensure compliance with school policies and recordkeeping procedures
Parent & Student Communication
- Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for parents, students, and visitors
- Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries
- Communicate school information, reminders, and updates to families
- Build positive relationships with students and families while maintaining professionalism and discretion
Business Office Support
- Assist with billing, payment tracking, and account follow-up
- Communicate professionally and respectfully regarding past due tuition or fees
- Maintain accurate financial and administrative records
- Support general office operations and administrative projects as needed
Student Engagement & Campus Support
- Interact daily with students in a positive, supportive, and professional manner
- Help foster a welcoming and organized school environment
- Collaborate closely with faculty, administration, and staff to support school operations and student success
Qualifications
- Previous administrative, office coordination, or school office experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and student information systems preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
