    Chesapeake Legal Alliance (CLA) is a nonprofit environmental law center located in Annapolis, MD. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Development Coordinator to handle day-to-day development and fundraising needs as well as provide critical support to the CLA Board and staff. This is a new position which will serve as a key member of our team, reporting to the Executive Director, David Reed.

    Position Vital Stats

    • Salary Range: $63,000 to $90,000
    • Benefits: Health reimbursement account (QSEHRA) & 401K

    • Office Location: Annapolis, MD; hybrid/partial telework

    Your Responsibilities

    Development Management (80%)

    You will enhance CLA’s effectiveness by overseeing the day-to-day development needs. These duties include:

    • Systems: Co-manage CLA’s donor/constituent management system
    • Direct Fundraising:
      1. Co-Develop and track fundraising materials and solicitations
      2. Identify, perform outreach and cultivation for prospective donors
    • Communications Support:
      1. Integrate fundraising communications with our programmatic communications
      2. Co-Develop and oversee regular outreach to constituents
      3. Coordinate donor stewardship, including acknowledgements, donor updates, renewal reminders and follow-up tracking
      4. Create new pathways to give, including streamlining giving platforms and reducing friction for potential donors
      5. Assist Executive Director to encourage Donor Advised Fund and similar long-term giving vehicles
      6. Co-lead writing/tracking grant proposals and reports, with staff support

    Board Support (20%)

    Support CLA’s Executive Director and Board Officers with Board-related administrative needs. These duties include:

    • Assist with fundraising documents and distribution to Board
    • Work with Board members to identify and track current and potential donors

    Required Qualifications

    • At least 2-5 years of prior experience in nonprofit communications, development and/or fundraising
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Skilled database management and data entry
    • Communications experience
    • Strong goal-setting and planning skills
    • Experience with a variety of personalities and backgrounds in the workplace
    • Desire to become part of a dynamic, flexible, innovative team

    Annapolis, MD. CLA staff maintain a flexible in-office schedule (1-2 days per week).
