    Description

    InUnity Alliance’s Center for Rehabilitation and Recovery (CRR) training program offers training, consultation, resources, tools, and information to psychiatric rehabilitation teams in New York City (NYC) and surrounding areas. The Full‐Time Psychiatric Rehabilitation Trainer serves as a key member, providing training and technical assistance and consultation, and support to NYC Personalized Recovery‐Oriented Service (PROS) teams, Community-Oriented Recovery & Empowerment (CORE) service providers, and other recovery‐oriented psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners.

    Please note: This role entails both virtual/remote work and occasional (10%) in‐person collaborations within New York State.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Provide relationship‐building, virtual or onsite/in‐person technical assistance to NYC PROS teams in the five boroughs and surrounding areas, based on the foundations of psychiatric rehabilitation, anti‐ oppressive practice, and community inclusion.
      • Create toolkits and other resources to promote resources for NYC PROS and psychiatric rehabilitation support communities.
      • Assist psychiatric rehabilitation support providers with communicating high priority issues within the provider community and to government entities.
    • Develop curriculum and deliver training virtually or onsite/in‐person on a wide array of topics related to psychiatric rehabilitation, recovery-oriented practices, and community inclusion for New York State support providers in alignment with the annual CRR workplan.
      • Contribute to developing training and resource curricula, reports, and other programmatic documents. Translate research into useful information for program providers, while conceptualizing the expansion of new training program areas.
      • Build presentations for relevant and timely topics within psychiatric rehabilitation, representing and promoting the CRR at City, State, and National meetings, conferences, and other forums.
      • Participate in CRR and InUnity Allaince staff meetings, as well as related external meetings, committees, and taskforces, as needed.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Knowledge and skills in psychiatric rehabilitation, recovery‐oriented practices, and humanizing systems in behavioral health.
    • Background in behavioral/mental health system in NYS and with PROS, HCBS/CORE and other rehabilitation services.
    • Clear communication and training presentation skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.
    • Flexibility and willingness to learn new knowledge and skills in a small team setting.
    • Organization, creativity, and resourcefulness, with a drive for quality and high attention todetail.
    • Effective use of software and web‐based applications, such as learning management systems – Adobe, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred.

    Education and Experience

    • Master’s Degree in social work; mental health counseling; occupational therapy; creative arts therapy; public health; family therapy; or related sector, with both clinical and program knowledge.
    • At least 2 years of experience facilitating training/workshops and providing technical assistance or consultation services.
    • Individuals with lived experience in the mental health, behavioral health, or justice systems and individuals who identify as part of under‐represented groups (for instance, individuals from low‐ income communities, communities of color, LGBTQ+) are encouraged to apply.
    • Experience working in a NYS OMH‐licensed program or service, such as PROS or HCBS/CORE, rehabilitation program, managed care organization, health home, benefits office, or government oversight office is preferred.
    • Certification as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) is preferred.
