POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company seeks a strategic, collaborative, and highly organized Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications to lead the planning, execution, and analysis of integrated marketing campaigns that drive ticket revenue, deepen audience engagement, and amplify Woolly’s bold artistic voice.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution—overseeing campaign management, communications infrastructure, and revenue-focused initiatives—while managing a small but dynamic team and collaborating with Woolly’s strategic marketing partners. The Senior Manager will report to the General Manager and supervise the Digital Communications & Content Manager and the Marketing Associate.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Lead end-to-end project management of marketing campaigns for single ticket sales, membership and subscription packages (featuring the Golden Ticket), and institutional initiatives
- Develop timelines, coordinate deliverables, and ensure campaigns launch on time and on budget
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to align marketing strategies with artistic, development, and institutional priorities
- Oversee group sales strategy and execution to maximize audience growth and revenue
Revenue & Budget Management
- Partner with senior leadership to set and meet earned revenue goals
- Manage marketing budgets across campaigns, ensuring strategic allocation of resources
- Collaborate with audience services on developing and executing pricing and inventory management strategies
Vendor & Advertising Management
- Serve as primary liaison for external vendors, including press representatives, strategy and brand agencies, designers, printers, and advertising partners
- Manage booking, trafficking, and fulfillment of advertising across digital and print channels
- Ensure all ad placements align with campaign strategy and brand standards
Content & Collateral Development
- Oversee Playbill development, including editorial coordination, ad sales, and production timelines
- Collaborate with the Digital Communications & Content Manager on messaging consistency across platforms
- Work with press representatives on development of press release and press pitches
Data, Analytics & Systems
- Lead marketing reporting and analytics, translating data into actionable insights
- Manage audience segmentation and targeted campaigns within Spektrix
- Continuously refine strategies based on performance metrics and audience behavior
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and support the Digital Communications & Content Manager and Marketing Associate, fostering a collaborative and creative team culture
- Coordinate closely with the Audience Services, Front of House, Development, Artistic, Connectivity, New Works, and Production teams to ensure alignment across the organization
- All other duties as assigned
Company-Wide Responsibilities:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for providing employees timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments. Additionally this position will:
- Select, train, and develop an effective and efficient staff including:
- Interviewing applicants and select new employees;
- Supervising the department orientation and training of new employees;
- Recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and dismissals in conformance with company policy and procedures; and
- Conducting annual performance reviews;
- Have substantial knowledge of leadership, teamwork, and management principles in line with the values of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in marketing or audience development (arts/culture sector preferred)
- Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience building effective, data-driven marketing strategies
- Previous work within a CRM system (Spektrix preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and contribute to revenue goals
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment
- Extending viewing of computer screens
- Some evening and weekend work required
- Some travel required
- Hybrid position—required in office Tuesday through Thursday and for events and meetings
- Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is located in Washington, D.C.’s Penn Quarter neighborhood. It is air-conditioned, located in a wheelchair accessible building, and in close proximity to public transportation.
COMPENSATION:
- Starting Salary: $70,000 to $75,000
- Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company recognizes that conversations about salary can be difficult. In recognition of the necessity for top-tier talent, we strive to provide pay that meets the market by leveling with industry peers to determine the pay range for each position. Where the employee falls in that range is determined by experience and skill set. Woolly will work hard to administer the compensation program in a manner that is transparent, consistent, and equitable across the company.
