Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., is a congregation of Catholic religious sisters who have served as missionaries since 1912, when we became the first group of Catholic sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission. POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Manager plans/organizes, coordinates and evaluates the operational aspects of direct care services to the Maryknoll Sisters in their place of residence according to the philosophy and policies of the Maryknoll Sisters.
This position ensures planning, implementation, quality assurance of, and on-going communication among the various groups and staff who provide Medicare and Medicaid Services for the Maryknoll Sisters.
The Nurse Manager oversees and is responsible for the provision and quality assurance of direct care nursing services for a Home Care Program that operates throughout the Maryknoll Sisters’ Center serving over 100 Sisters with a staff of approximately 30 Maryknoll Sisters employees (RNs, LPNs, NAs) through three shifts, seven days a week, from five Nursing Stations (one on the 2nd floor, two stations on 3rd floor and two stations on 4th floor) for a mixture of skilled and assisted living care. Works directly with home care agency for those Sisters receiving services through managed care.
REQUIREMENTS TO CARRY OUT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
(including aptitudes, temperament, interests, and physical stamina)
a) Ability to work with and understand needs of sick and elderly.
b) Ability to maintain confidentiality.
c) Ability to plan, manage, make decisions, motivate, lead, delegate and communicate.
d) Ability to use a computer including e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and ADP ezLabor.
e) Ability to interpret and translate Maryknoll Sisters' philosophy and objectives for care of sick and elderly residents, into a practical plan for Nursing Services.
f) Ability to work professionally in a high-stress position.
g) Ability to work with and develop a multi-cultural Health Care Team.
h) Ability to work a full-time position with additional hours as needed.
i) Ability to be flexible with work schedule to meet the needs of Maryknoll Sisters Home Care.
j) Ability to be “on call” after hours to handle emergency calls as needed.
k) Ability to see, hear, stand, move, lift, bend and maintain adequate stamina to handle patient care, rounds, and other physical requirements of working in Maryknoll Sisters Home Care.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of five years progressive nursing experience, with at least two years supervision and administration in home health care.
Experience in long term care plus knowledgeable in NYS Code Requirements.
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED
Registered Nurse – Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current License to practice in the State of New York
BSN preferred or a combination of education and experience that meets the needs of this position.
