    Description

    The Healing Center is a safe place that honors and normalizes grief, providing hope, learning, and support through community. We offer group support for grieving children, youth and adults. We are looking for a team member to lead our youth programming. This is a part-time position, approx. 20 hours/week with about half of that time in-person at our meeting space in Northeast Seattle. For the right candidate, there is potential for an expansion of this role into supporting programming for the whole organization. Please inquire if you are interested in more than half-time.

    The Youth Program Manager and Therapist leads the grief programming for children, teens and their families at The Healing Center. This position plans and facilitates in-person grief support groups for youth of all ages who have experienced the death of a close family member. The ideal candidate will be an important member of our organization's team, collaborating with staff and volunteers to plan and implement innovative grief support services in the Seattle area.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Create curriculum for children’s grief support groups.
    • Facilitate in-person child-centered grief support groups for children, teens, and their caregivers.
    • Conduct briefing meetings with volunteers before and after each group.
    • Conduct intake meetings with incoming children and adult clients.
    • Maintain consistent contact with group members and guardians/caregivers, specifically those in need of additional support.
    • Assess for mental health and behavioral concerns among group members and take appropriate action as needed, in consultation with Center Director.
    • Participate in staff meetings.
    • Provide occasional sick/vacation coverage for other group facilitators.
    • Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer co-facilitators.
    • Provide outreach to schools and other community organizations in need of grief support.
    • Maintain group space for play, craft and meeting activities.
    • Plan and facilitate youth program special events.
    • Participate in broader Healing Center program activities including community and fundraising events.
    • Support program administrative tasks as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • Licensed as an LMHCA, LMFTA, LSWAIC or equivalent, working towards full licensure.
    • Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field.
    • Group facilitation experience with children, teens and adults.
    • Experience implementing therapeutic play techniques with children and teens.
    • Understanding of grief and loss across the lifespan.
    • Proficiency in collaborating with team members.
    • Experience in recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
    • Understanding of and dedication to the mission of the Healing Center.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within a growing non-profit environment.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Must possess sound judgment; prioritization and follow-through skills; attention to details; dependability; tact; and ability to maintain confidential information.
    • Must pass a background check.
    • Flexibility in schedule to include some evening hours.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Licensed LMHC, LMFT, LICSW able to supervise therapist interns in Washington state.

    The Healing Center offers 11 paid holidays, paid vacation time and paid sick time. We also offer a stipend towards the cost of benefits.
