    Summary: The primary function of all RTCA Teachers is to provide a holistic Christian education which ministers to the whole child — body, mind, and spirit through the development of biblically based values, promotion of educational and intellectual curiosity, and reinforcement of cultural awareness and social responsibility.

    The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive physical education programs that promote fitness, healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship, and student participation in competitive sports. This role oversees the organization and management of all PE classes, ensuring alignment with the school’s curriculum and policies while providing instruction for one grade level above.

    Key Responsibilities: PE Teacher

    • Design and implement effective, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
    • Establish data-driven instructional goals for each student based on ongoing assessments of student learning,
    • Implement strategies for managing classroom procedures and school-wide routines.
    • Design lesson plans, maintain safe equipment/facilities, and provide coaching to all involved in the program.
    • Create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students embrace the core values of RTCA, including high expectations for all learners, respect, educational rigor, diversity, and global responsibility.
    • Design and implement PE lessons for all grade levels that promote both physical activity and meaningful learning outcomes.
    • Encourage and motivate students to participate actively in athletic and physical activities.
    • Engage and collaborate with parents to create and implement strategies for supporting student learning and development both at home and at school.
    • Actively engage in school-wide events and initiatives that promote family involvement and strengthen community partnerships.
    • Provide additional academic support to students in school-based after-school tutoring/enrichment programs.
    • Engage actively in RTCA’s professional learning communities, attending ongoing professional development workshops, grade-level meetings, and team collaborations.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.
    • At least three (3) years of experience working with young children is preferred.
    • Dedicated to advancing a holistic Christian educational philosophy that ministers to the whole child—body, mind, and spirit—while fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development.
    • Uphold professional responsibilities and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Possesses a strong understanding of instructional practices and the developmental stages of children to support effective teaching and learning.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
    • Skilled in classroom management, fostering a structured, engaging, and respectful learning environment while implementing consistent discipline practices aligned with school policies.
    • Ability to provide activities for children that encourage a STEM and global focus.
    • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and the school community.
    • Possesses strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based work structure while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to evolving responsibilities and priorities.
    • ** Applicants who hold certification in CPR and a 90-hour Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) will receive priority consideration; all applicants must pass an MD State and FBI background clearance.

    Job Type: Full-time and reports to the Head of School (HOS) of Reid Temple Christian Academy.
