    Description

    AVAC is an international non-profit organization that leverages its independent voice and global partnerships to accelerate ethical development and equitable delivery of effective HIV prevention options, as part of a comprehensive and integrated pathway to global health equity.

    AVAC is seeking a parental leave cover for our digital & technology lead at an estimated 20-40 hours/week, starting from June 15 – August 31, 2026, with the possibility of extending to October 2026. This consultant will work directly with the Communications and Data, Analytics & Impact (DAI) teams. With oversight from the DAI lead and direction from the team, this consultant will be responsible for implementing AVAC’s digital communications, websites, and social media platforms to ensure a robust digital presence, timely dissemination of communications to our audience, and optimal functioning of digital assets.

    Scope of Work

    Digital Communications (15% of time)

    • Oversee design development and deployment of all digital communications, newsletters, and listserv posts.
    • Draft/mock-up digital communications in Mailchimp, oversee review process, and disseminate to appropriate listservs.

    Digital Presence (65% of time)

    • Keep all websites current and dynamic — monitoring internal and external info sources for new information and events that are relevant to AVAC web properties; publishing new content, updating existing pages, and responding to requests from Communications and Program teams.
    • Work with AVAC’s outside vendors on web projects (e.g., maintaining and/or improving functionality and design of existing sites, addressing security/ functionality issues, building new sites).
    • Monitor and address any disruptions to website functionality.
    • Complete monthly analytics reports for AVAC’s digital and social media platforms to assess and communicate trends, actions, and strategy adjustments.
    • Support the DAI lead to review website content inventory and make appropriate updates to the website.

    Social Media (20% of time)

    • Simplify existing infographics and messaging into bite-sized social media pieces.
    • Create brand-aligned materials for posting to social media — graphics and audio & video clips, working with Communications and Program teams to develop relevant content.
    • Serve as backup to team leads for timely management of and posting to and monitoring of social media presence across major platforms (LinkedIn, Bluesky, Instagram, etc.).

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated fluency with WordPress (including custom HTML/Gutenberg blocks), Mailchimp HTML email development, and GA4 analytics reporting.
    • Experience managing web hosting environments (e.g., WP Engine or similar) and coordinating with external web development vendors.
    • Proficiency with major social media platforms (LinkedIn, Bluesky, Instagram) including content scheduling and platform-native analytics.
    • Experience providing similar services for other clients & 2 references we can contact if short-listed for this work.
    • Interest in global health and development and/or HIV prevention, preferred.
