    Description

We're looking for a Bishop's Assistant/Diocesan Coordinator who is organized, trustworthy, and genuinely energized by the rhythms of church life. This is a role for someone who finds meaning in the behind-the-scenes work that makes ministry possible -- keeping a bishop's schedule on track, supporting people discerning a call to ordination, helping events come together, and being a gracious, steady presence for everyone who walks through the door (or calls the phone).

This is approximately 50% support directly to the Bishop and 50% support for broader diocesan operations.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the Bishop's calendar, travel, and visitation schedule
    • Serve as Secretary to the Commission on Ministry and as Vocations Secretary, supporting those in the ordination process
    • Maintain confidential records and correspondence
    • Manage the Sargent House facility calendar and onsite hospitality
    • Support the planning of the Annual Meeting of Convention
    • Serve as the welcoming first point of contact for the diocese
    • Provide required annual reports to The Episcopal Church

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

    • Have 3-5 years of administrative experience and know your way around Microsoft Office and Acrobat Pro
    • Are deeply organized but stay flexible when things shift (and they will)
    • Handle sensitive information with real discretion
    • Communicate clearly and promptly, in writing and in person
    • Have some familiarity with The Episcopal Church -- or are eager to learn
    • Speak Spanish or are committed to developing that skill
    • Hold a bachelor's degree or bring equivalent experience

    A Note on Culture

We value teamwork, trust, and a sense of humor. The right person for this role will feel at home in a faith-based workplace and will bring both competence and care to everything they do.

    Benefits

Medical insurance, pension, vacation, and leave time

    Level of Language Proficiency

Spanish language skills a plus; willingness to develop proficiency required

    Location

    On-site
    Salinas, CA, USA
