    Location: New York, NY

Are you a passionate fundraising leader ready to make a meaningful impact? Join Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen (HASK), one of New York City’s largest and most respected emergency food programs. We are seeking a Director of Development to lead and scale our fundraising strategy, deepen donor relationships, and drive sustainable revenue growth in support of our mission to feed and serve New Yorkers in need.

    About Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

For over 40 years, Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has provided nourishing meals, groceries, and compassionate services to thousands of New Yorkers facing food insecurity and homelessness. Operating six days a week in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, HASK is a trusted community anchor committed to dignity, hospitality, and impact. The Director of Development will play a central leadership role in advancing HASK’s mission through strategic fundraising, communications, and donor engagement.

    What You’ll Do

As the senior fundraising leader, you will work closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to strengthen and grow HASK’s fundraising program.

    Fundraising Leadership

    • Design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns (e.g., Annual Appeal, Giving Tuesday, End-of-Year Campaign).

    • Lead major gift and planned giving initiatives alongside the HASK leadership team.

    • Cultivate and manage relationships with major individual donors and key philanthropic partners.

    • Partner with leadership to strengthen foundation and corporate giving and support the development of a more formal corporate engagement program.

    • Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans and manage the development budget.

    • Collaborate with the Board Development Committee to establish and achieve ambitious revenue goals.

    Donor & Community Engagement

    • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual, major, foundation, and corporate donors through personalized outreach, stewardship gatherings, and on-site tours.

    • Represent HASK with community, faith-based, and philanthropic partners to expand awareness and support for the organization.

    Team Management

    • Supervise and mentor the development team, currently including development operations, grants, and marketing/communications staff.

    • Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development to team members.

    • Ensure strong coordination across fundraising, donor stewardship, communications, and reporting functions.

    Grants Management

    • Oversee the Grants Manager in their work prospecting, cultivating, proposal writing, and reporting to foundations and institutional funders.

    • Partner with program leadership to align grant opportunities with program priorities.

    Marketing & Communications

    • Oversee the Marketing & Communications Associate in developing donor communications, newsletters, website content, and social media.

    • Ensure communications effectively highlight HASK’s mission and program impact.

    • Collaborate with leadership and external partners to strengthen brand visibility and marketing materials.

    Who You Are

    • 7+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in major gifts, institutional giving, and campaign management.

    • Experience in hunger relief, homelessness, or human services is a plus.

    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree or CFRE certification preferred.

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; proficiency with donor CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or NeonOne).

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and budgeting capabilities.

    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

    • Proven ability to build, manage, and motivate a team, with experience supervising staff and volunteers.

    Why Join Us?

    • Impact: Lead transformative fundraising efforts that directly support thousands of New Yorkers experiencing hunger and homelessness.

    • Growth: Collaborate with the senior leadership team and help shape the strategic direction of a mission-driven nonprofit serving New York City’s most vulnerable communities.
