    Description

    Overview

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Business and Finance Manager to provide financial leadership and oversight for a dynamic church environment. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both strategic analysis and hands-on financial operations in a collaborative, values-driven setting.

    This position partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer and business office team to ensure strong financial stewardship, accurate reporting, and effective internal controls.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Oversight & Reporting

      • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and financial systems
      • Review monthly financial statements and analyze results
      • Monitor cash flow and provide insights to leadership
      • Oversee contributions, deposits, and reconciliations

    Month-End Close (Review & Oversight)

      • Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff
      • Ensure timely and accurate close processes

    Payroll Execution

      • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll
      • Review payroll inputs and ensure compliance
      • Manage payroll-related billing for affiliated entities

    Audit & Compliance

      • Lead audit coordination and prepare required schedules
      • Ensure compliance with financial policies and standards
      • Review and file semi-annual sales tax returns

    Budgeting & Financial Planning

      • Monitor budget vs. actual performance
      • Support forecasting and financial planning efforts

    Foundation & Restricted Funds

      • Oversee accounting and reporting for foundation activity
      • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports

    Risk & Insurance

      • Manage insurance processes and claims
      • Support risk management and internal controls

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
      • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (fund accounting preferred)
      • Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
      • Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
      • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
      • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
      • Experience with ACS or Realm is a plus
      • Experience in a church or nonprofit setting preferred

    Schedule & Work Environment

      • 28 hours per week (flexible within weekday business hours)
      • Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities
