    Description

    The Development Associate at Mercy Learning Center plays a key role in supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts and volunteer engagement. As a vital member of a small and collaborative team, the Development Associate will maintain donor and volunteer records, support marketing initiatives, and serve as the first point of contact for all volunteer inquiries.

    Responsibilities

    Donor Stewardship Support/Information Management

    • Maintains donor database (Bloomerang) and updates all relevant donor information with pinpoint accuracy
    • Processes donations, generates and tracks tax-receipts and acknowledgement letters in a timely manner
    • Responds promptly to donor inquiries regarding gift history and acknowledgments
    • Prepares a variety of tracking and metrics reports using the Bloomerang database, to inform donor stewardship strategy and support Director of Development and CEO
    • Assist with donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship activities, as appropriate

    Volunteer Management

    • Serves as the first point of contact for all volunteers, ensuring timely and professional responses to inquiries
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all open volunteer positions across the organization and routes volunteers to appropriate departments
    • Enters and manages volunteer data in the Bloomerang database, ensuring accuracy and completeness
    • Tracks and maintains records of volunteers’ years of service
    • Supports recognition and engagement efforts for volunteers as directed

    Marketing and Branding

    • Coordinate and prepare all mailings list for the annual report, year-end appeal, and newsletters, and other mailings
    • Assist with all fundraising events, on and off site, including annual fundraising gala and funder tours of the Center
    • Oversee all social media platforms, including creating and posting content, and managing the preparation and distribution of e-newsletters

    Assist Director of Development in other duties, as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate Degree required
    • 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or marketing, including experience working with a CRM database (such as Bloomerang)
    • Strong data management and reporting skills: must be comfortable working with data
    • Excellent verbal and communication skills
    • Technical proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canva; strong overall computer and keyboarding skills
    • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to multitask
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a high level of motivation
    • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds due to frequent handling of donated items
