Community Council is looking for a Community Engagement & Action Coordinator who enjoys bringing people together, building relationships, identifying pathways to navigate complex issues, and supporting volunteers to catalyze community action around identified priorities.

This is not a job with one obvious career path. You might be a community organizer, government or nonprofit leader, educator, journalist, policy professional, facilitator, community developer, or something else entirely. What matters is that you are curious, thoughtful, strategic, a strong communicator, and good at working with people.

    What you'll do:

You'll help lead the action side of Community Council's volunteer-driven work—turning research and community recommendations into action. You'll:

    • Work independently and as part of a small team.
    • Convene and facilitate groups with diverse perspectives.
    • Build relationships with community leaders, organizations, government officials, and residents.
    • Research issues, analyze policy, and help develop strategies for action.
    • Help volunteers communicate effectively and engage others in their work.
    • Support volunteer-led community outreach efforts.
    • Engage volunteers from across all communities and demographic groups in the region.
    • Write reports, grants, presentations, and other materials.
    • Assist volunteers with conducting policy analysis and developing policies
    • Support Community Council's study process and provide consulting and training to other communities.

We want to meet someone who...

    • Can listen deeply, ask questions, see connections, identify strategies, and support volunteers in their advocacy efforts.
    • Someone who can lead a room without needing to be the most important person in it.
    • Someone who enjoys working across organizations and perspectives and is energized—not discouraged—by complicated community issues.
    • Spanish language proficiency and cultural knowledge are preferred. Community outreach experience and website/social media experience are also preferred.
