    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    • Partner with the Board of Directors on strategic planning, policy development, and organizational growth
    • Ensure financial sustainability through sound budgeting, fiscal oversight, revenue development (retail, publishing, grants, and partnerships), and compliance (including annual review/audit and IRS Form 990)
    • Provide leadership for retail bookstores, wholesale trade, publishing operations, and related business functions
    • Serve as the primary liaison with federal land management agencies (NPS, USFS, BLM, BOR) and community partners
    • Recruit, supervise, and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and mission-focused culture
    • Oversee contracts, inventory, customer service, and operational excellence consistent with the organization’s mission

    Ideal Candidate

    The successful candidate will be a collaborative and strategic leader with demonstrated experience in nonprofit management, financial oversight, and organizational leadership. They will bring strong communication skills, a commitment to conservation and public lands, and the ability to build productive relationships with boards, staff, agency partners, and community stakeholders.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum five years of progressively responsible leadership or administrative experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
    • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, natural resource management, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
    • Demonstrated financial management and operational oversight experience
    • Experience working with a Board of Directors and public agency partners preferred
    • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and bondable

    Work Schedule and Location

    This is a full-time, exempt position based at INHA’s headquarters in Jensen, Utah. The schedule is generally Monday–Friday, with additional hours as needed to support operations, board meetings, and mission-related activities.

    Compensation

    Starting salary range: $60,000 – $85,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
