    Description

    CLA seeks a paralegal to support its Family Law unit, most of whose clients are domestic violence survivors. Under the supervision of the unit's Senior Supervising Attorneys and in consultation with the unit's staff attorneys, the paralegal will assist and support the unit's attorneys with interviewing clients, drafting court pleadings and other case-related documents for review by the unit's attorneys, relaying counsel and advice and case information to clients, and working with the unit's attorneys to prepare clients for court hearings. The paralegal may also assist with CLA's translation and interpretation needs and may also assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports. The paralegal will be based in and primarily work out of CLA's Worcester office and will be asked to travel to Springfield on occasion to work in-person with CLA's western Mass. family law team.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • College degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
    • Strong organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills required.
    • The ability to work cooperatively in a team is essential.
    • Fluency in written and oral Spanish desirable.
    • Experience working with low-income communities desirable.
    • Prior paralegal experience preferred.

    COMPENSATION:

    • The starting salary for a full-time position is $53,140, which is based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience to a maximum of $84,340.

      • Paid leave (4 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, 12 sick days, and 13 holidays)
      • Relocation stipend.
    • CLA has a hybrid workplace and requires staff to work in their assigned office at least three days per week.
