    About Tasveer:

    Tasveer is a nonprofit organization that promotes South Asian films and storytelling in North America. It was founded in Seattle and focuses on showcasing independent cinema from South Asia and the diaspora. The organization hosts the Tasveer Film Festival, which features films, panels, and discussions, as well as their annual Gala and other events. It also works to increase representation and understanding of South Asian cultures through media.

    Role Description

    The Development Director is responsible for leading the organization’s fundraising strategy, maintaining and increasing funding via individual donations, sponsorships, annual campaigns, events, and memberships. This position is responsible for overseeing the development team (marketing/communications, grant writing, and events) and coordinating development activities for our Annual Tasveer Gala and other fundraising campaigns throughout the year.

    Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategy and Plan (50%)

    • Develop and lead execution of annual fundraising plan
    • Manage a portfolio of individual donors, focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
    • Organize individual donor meetings, in coordination with staff, Board, and campaign committee
    • Lead online giving campaigns, including GiveBig, GivingTuesday, and Year-End Appeal
    • Monitor and analyze fundraising data
    • Organize donor cultivation and fundraising events, including Tasveer’s annual gala
    • Research and secure event sponsorships
    • Support marketing team to integrate development and membership strategies
    • Plan and support Donor Appreciation events throughout the year
    • Provide development reports at board meetings

    Gift Processing & Data Management (15%)

    • Manage gift acknowledgement and data entry process, ensuring timely and personalized thank you communications and adherence to IRS regulations.
    • Maintain high data integrity, including updating donor records, managing soft credits, and creating new constituent profiles in the database.
    • Generate accurate financial reports, gift lists, and donor data extracts for board and campaign planning meetings.

    Team Oversight and Coordination (25%)

    • Oversee the strategic implementation of the Annual Tasveer Gala Event in partnership with the gala chair and planning committee
    • Manage fundraising team, including the Events/Development Coordinator and contract grant writer, and coordinate campaigns with marketing/communication teammates

    Capital Campaign (10%)

    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Campaign Manager to develop Capital Campaign plan
    • Assist with implementation as needed

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • Strong interest in the mission and vision of Tasveer
    • 3+ years experience planning galas or other major fundraising events.
    • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, including at least one year in a leadership role
    • Experience managing relationships with donors, sponsors, partners, and community stakeholders
    • Significant experience with major gifts, including cultivating a personal portfolio of donors
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and experience with donor management systems, such as Bloomerang, Give Butter, and Instrumentl (Tasveer’s current systems).
    • Ability to lead productive teams in both in-person and remote settings, including supervisory experience

    Preferred Qualifications & Skills

    • 5+ years of demonstrated successful nonprofit fundraising experience
    • Knowledge of South Asian culture and community is a plus
    • Knowledge of the film industry, particularly film festivals
    • Fundraising certification, such as CFRE
    • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field

    Level of Language Proficiency

    English - fluent in speaking, writing, and reading.
