    Description

    Oasis - a Haven for Women and Children is a nonprofit 501 (C) (3) organization located in Paterson, New Jersey. We carry out educational and social services programs that help local women enter and succeed in the workforce and help children flourish academically. We also operate a soup kitchen and provide emergency food, clothing, and social support to city residents in need.

    The Director of Data, Strategy, and Administration is a senior leadership role responsible for aligning the organization’s data systems, operational infrastructure, and administrative functions with its mission and strategic goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position ensures that organizational decision-making is informed by strong data systems, effective evaluation, and clear performance metrics while also overseeing key administrative and compliance functions that support organizational sustainability.

    The Director leads the development and management of the organization’s data strategy, impact measurement systems, and internal reporting infrastructure. In addition, the role oversees core business administration functions including but not limited to budgeting coordination, insurance management, compliance, and organizational operations.

    This position works closely with the leadership team to translate data and evaluation into strategic insight, strengthen organizational learning, and ensure that internal systems and policies support program excellence and accountability.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data and Evaluation

      • Lead the design and implementation of the organization’s measurement and evaluation strategy.
      • Develop and maintain data collection systems, dashboards, and analytics tools that track program outcomes, operational performance, and organizational KPIs.
      • Translate complex program and operational data into clear insights that inform leadership decision-making.
      • Facilitate programmatic data collection activities.
      • Conduct organizational data analyses and prepare reports for leadership, board members, funders, and stakeholders.
      • Ensure alignment between data systems, program goals, and strategic priorities.

    Data Systems and Technology Management

      • Oversee the organization’s CRM and data infrastructure, including platforms such as Salesforce and other operational and fundraising systems.
      • Ensure strong data governance practices, including data integrity, documentation, security, and staff training.
      • Provide training and support to staff on effective data use and system best practices.

    Strategic Planning and Organizational Performance

      • Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team in strategic planning, performance tracking, and organizational improvement initiatives.
      • Develop systems that track progress against strategic plan goals and organizational priorities.
      • Identify opportunities to strengthen operational effectiveness through data-driven insights.

    Business Administration and Operations

      • Oversee core business administration functions to ensure efficient and compliant organizational operations.
      • Coordinate the annual budgeting process, working with leadership to monitor organizational financial performance.
      • Manage the organization’s insurance portfolio, including liability, property, directors and officers (D&O), and other policies.
      • Ensure compliance with government regulations, grant requirements, and nonprofit reporting standards.
      • Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures that support accountability and operational efficiency.

    Cross-Functional Leadership

      • Collaborate with program, development, and finance teams to ensure data systems support program delivery, fundraising, and reporting needs.
      • Lead cross-departmental projects that strengthen organizational infrastructure and strategic initiatives.
      • Build a culture of data-informed decision-making and organizational learning.
      • Provide training and mentorship to staff on data systems, reporting, and evaluation practices.

    Qualifications:

    Education

      • Bachelor’s degree required. Ph.D., Master’s degree, or equivalent advanced training in organizational research, human resources, public administration, data analytics, or a related field preferred.

    Experience

      • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, evaluation, organizational research, or program measurement, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
      • Experience managing CRM systems and organizational data infrastructure
      • Demonstrated experience developing logic models, theories of change, and program evaluation frameworks.
      • Experience translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership.
      • Experience with organizational operations, budgeting coordination, compliance, or administrative management.

    Skills

      • Data analytics and visualization (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel, SPSS, Python, or similar tools).
      • CRM and data systems management.
