    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Part-Time Nutritionist Aide Location: New York, NY

    New York Common Pantry is one of the city’s largest hunger relief organizations, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization experiencing rapid growth and expansion.

Last year, we assisted over 764,000 visitors, served over 11.7 million meals, and accessed $10.7 million in public benefits resources for our guests. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.

    NYCP is seeking a Part-Time Nutritionist Aide to join our Live Healthy! Team. The Part-Time Nutritionist Aide is responsible for supporting the administrative needs of the SNAP-Ed III Program - Nutrition Education and Food Equity initiatives through facilitating communication between our participants, food preparation of food supplies for nutrition education workshops, Farm Share/Food MD Packing and Distribution, and the Recipe Club.

    The Part-Time Nutritionist Aide will report to our Nutrition Program Manager at the 788 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY,10455 location. This is a part-time position, up to 28 hours a week, non-exempt. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 9am - 5pm, with a 1-hour lunch break, including some Saturdays. Extensive travel on public transit is required for program activities (a monthly MetroCard is covered by the grant).

    *Please note that this is a grant-funded position with funding anticipated up to September 30, 2026. Continuation of this position is dependent on contract renewal.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide administrative support to the Live Healthy! Team to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

    • Collaborate with team members to review and update grocery needs, and procure ingredients for cooking demonstrations.

    • Assist in all aspects of food preparation of food supplies for nutrition education workshops.

    • Use standard recipes to prepare and portion ingredients, ensuring all items are measured and prepped according to established portion sizes and specifications.

    • Label and stock all ingredients to ensure they are well-organized, properly stored, and easily accessible.

    • Ensure proper food storage and handling to maintain safety and compliance standards

    • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.

    • Participate in the planning, preparation, and streaming of Recipe Club content across various digital platforms to maximize outreach.

    • Contribute to the development and dissemination of digital and virtual educational materials and program resources.

    • Support promotional efforts to increase program participation and community engagement.

    • Oversee the printing and preparation of materials for LH activities, ensuring they are ready and accessible to all participants.

    • Utilize various communication tools to engage members and participants, ensuring timely and effective messaging.

    • Schedule and send text communication reminders to participants, ensuring they receive timely updates and information.

    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of one year of administrative experience.

    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs is required.

    • Full professional proficiency level in English/Spanish or English/Mandarin/Cantonese is required.

    • Pursuing or having completed coursework toward a degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field is a plus.

    • Travel between multiple job locations.

    • Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.

    • Culturally sensitive and proficient in health literacy skills.

    • Experience with food safety and food handling principles.

    • A strong interest in food and nutrition, public health, community advocacy, and/or equity work.

    • Professional written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.

    • Multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.

    • Weekend work may be necessary.
