    Description

    Job Title: Program Manager, Middle School & Festival Outreach (100%)

    Organization: Community Resources for Science (CRS) is a nonprofit organization based in Berkeley that helps teachers and scientists work together to bring science learning to life for elementary and middle school students in the Bay Area. We provide information, support, and training for K-8 teachers, and engage hundreds of scientists and engineers from academia and industry in volunteer outreach leading science lessons in schools.

    Responsibilities:

    Primary responsibilities Middle school mentoring and outreach (75%)

    • Supervision of recruitment, training, and logistical support of STEM professionals in middle school mentoring, career pathways programs, and visiting scientist STEM education outreach programs in line with CRS policies and best practices
    • Supervision of project coordinators and assistants
    • Supervision of program development and delivery, communications, logistics, and evaluation, in line with CRS policies and best practices
    • Coordinate collaboration with CRS middle school outreach partners including teachers and school districts in program design, delivery and evaluation
    • Coordinate and implement strategic expansion of CRS middle school outreach programs in identified East Bay districts, in keeping with CRS policies and best practices
    • Assist with coordination and logistics for special events at schools and in the community

    Additional responsibilities:

    • Support development of new middle school BASIS or mentor lessons, training of volunteers, assembling lesson kits
    • Monitoring ongoing middle school outreach program evaluation, coordinating or supervising feedback and training as needed within CRS policies and best practices
    • Support or coordinate program documentation including photo and video documentation
    • Assist with Volunteer Appreciation and education outreach events

    Primary Responsibilities: Festivals & Events (25%)

    • Supervision of CRS Festival outreach events connecting outreach partners to local schools in line with CRS policies and best practices
    • Coordination with CRS team on festival logistics, documentation
    • Recruitment of STEM professionals for festival events in line with CRS policies and best practices
    • Assist onsite with festival events as needed
    • Assist with special projects as needed

    Qualifications

    • 3 years experience in science education or STEM industry workplace, demonstrating proficiency program management, volunteer/adult training, marketing, and communications.
    • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with middle school aged students (for example, science outreach, camp counseling, etc.)
    • Strong communication skills, including speaking, writing for varied audiences, and project evaluation and reporting.
    • Demonstrated success in independent and collaborative projects.
    • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs, stand, walk up stairs.
    • Ability to speak and use computer to generate emails, record data and carry out administrative tasks.
    • Background clearance required.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with middle school science teaching or lesson development
    • Previous volunteer recruitment and management experience
    • Experience with Salesforce.com platform.

    Job requires the ability to travel, and transport materials, to local workplaces and school sites. Access to car preferred. CRS is an equal opportunity employer.

    Schedule, Hours, and Salary: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Flexible work arrangement: Can be hybrid, with some work can be done remotely/virtually, but requires in person presence at East Bay school sites and CRS Berkeley office, approx 2-3 times per week on average. Must be Bay Area based. $71,000-$74,000, DOE, plus medical and dental insurance, retirement contribution.
