    Municipal Solar Partners is a non-profit solar development firm dedicated to partnering with municipalities across the country to build municipally owned projects that maximize benefits to the community.     About The Role

    MSP is seeking to hire a Solar Project Developer with experience in renewable energy development to manage all aspects of project development, shepherding projects from their early stages through the completion of the project. They will perform desktop analyses of potential sites, coordinate project engineering and the submission of interconnection applications, prepare project cost estimates, support municipalities to secure financing for projects, and interface directly with municipalities.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Project Development (60%)
      • Performing desktop evaluations of sites using Paces software
      • Collaborating with project engineers on site layout, site design, and interconnection applications
      • Developing project schedules, budgets, and plans
      • Drafting pro formas, estimating project costs, and developing project capital stack
      • Working closely with engineer and municipal officials to secure project permitting
      • Participating in municipal public procurement processes
      • Managing project operations including contracts, invoices, and payments
      • Coordinating project teams including external stakeholders and contractors
    • Municipal Support (30%)
      • Researching relevant federal, state, and municipal laws and ordinances
      • Researching local energy markets and utilities
      • Conducting initial outreach to prospective municipal partners
      • Drafting project status reports for municipal officials
      • Presenting to municipalities
      • Serving as day-to-day contact for municipal officials and other project partners
    • Project tracking and monitoring (10%)
      • Maintaining a tracker that includes project timelines, tasks, and budgets

    The ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least 2 years of renewable energy project development experience
    • Demonstrated interest in publicly-owned renewables, non-profit renewable energy, or other community-benefit oriented energy work
    • Strong knowledge of solar energy systems and project lifecycle
    • Ability to stay organized while juggling many different projects at once
    • Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset and skills
    • Self-motivation and a high level of attention to detail
    • Familiarity with permitting, interconnection, and utility coordination processes

    Compensation

    This is a remote, full-time role. The Solar Project Developer will also be asked to attend in-person site visits and meetings when necessary. The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 depending on experience and need. This role is also eligible for healthcare benefits.
