    Description

    The Development and Communications Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission of RxART by helping to expand the organization’s donor base, deepen relationships with supporters, and strengthen its fundraising communications. Working closely with the Director, this position supports a range of development initiatives—from donor cultivation and grant writing to events and digital engagement.

    This role is ideal for a highly organized and collaborative professional who enjoys building relationships, crafting compelling donor communications, and contributing to a growing nonprofit organization. The Development and Communications Manager will play an important role in ensuring donors and supporters feel connected to RxART’s work and impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Donor Engagement

    • Work closely with the Director to expand RxART’s donor base and support the implementation of fundraising strategies.
    • Conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential individual, foundation, and corporate supporters.
    • Support donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including meetings, personalized outreach, and special events.
    • Draft donor correspondence for the President/Director, including solicitation letters, donor acknowledgements, and stewardship communications.
    • Prepare grant applications and reports in collaboration with the Director.
    • Track fundraising appeals, contributions, and donor engagement to ensure accurate reporting and follow-up.
    • Assist in developing and managing the RxART Friends and RxART Director’s Circle programs, including outreach, engagement strategies, and related events (some evening attendance required).

    Gala & Special Events

    • Support planning and execution of RxART’s annual fundraising gala and other cultivation events.
    • Track ticket sales, sponsorships, and event revenue while ensuring accurate reporting.
    • Manage gala timelines and task lists to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Coordinate guest lists, seating arrangements, and event communications.
    • Prepare acknowledgement letters and tax receipts for attendees and sponsors.
    • Assist in creating and proofreading sponsorship materials, invitations, and event collateral.
    • Brief the President and Director on VIP attendees and donor engagement opportunities.

    Development Communications

    • Create compelling communications that highlight RxART’s impact and inspire donor engagement and support.
    • Draft and distribute donor-focused newsletters and fundraising appeals.
    • Manage social media channels with an emphasis on storytelling that showcases artists, hospital partnerships, and program impact to cultivate supporters.
    • Develop digital campaigns tied to fundraising initiatives, events, and donor recognition.
    • Work with the Director to ensure consistent messaging that strengthens RxART’s visibility and communicates the value of its mission to donors and partners.

    Administrative & Database Management

    • Maintain donor records and prospect files in Salesforce
    • Track fundraising income and donor activity to maintain accurate development records.
    • Collaborate with the Finance Director on monthly reconciliation of fundraising revenue.
    • Maintain organized digital files and documentation related to development activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of 3 years professional experience, including relevant internships
    • Well-organized and detail-oriented with ability to toggle between multiple projects
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Eagerness to learn with a proactive mindset and an ability to problem-solve
    • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
    • Experience in Salesforce preferred
