    Description

    Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., seeks talented, dedicated and experienced individuals to join our staff. We are a congregation of Catholic religious sisters, who serve as missionaries around the world and across the United States. We began in 1912, when we became the first group of Catholic sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission. Today, we have approximately 245 sisters serving in 19 places around the world and throughout the United States, including at our Center House in Ossining, N.Y. Our sisters and lay staff work as collaborative partners to realize our mission: “Co-creating a one earth community where the values of whole-making, mission and contemplation are being lived out.”

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The primary task of this position is to assist Major Donor Officers in the maintenance of personal contact with large donors who have given contributions of $500.00 or more to the Maryknoll Sisters. This individual handles correspondence and support for phone calls to personally extend the Congregation's gratitude for the prayers and financial support of the donor.

    The position assists Planned Giving Manager with Annuity Program and manages the tasks of Planned Giving and Mission Projects Funding offices in the absence of Directors.

    The position provides support to other Development Managers as needed, including work on donor issues, batch processing, database entries, and special projects.

    The position maintains accurate donor files and informs Maryknoll Sisters or designated projects regarding money allocated. The position supports other major donor cultivation efforts.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Prepares appropriate Thank You letters for qualifying donors.

    Maintains telephone contacts with large donors.

    Provides support for Mission Projects Funding efforts.

    Provides support for Planned Giving efforts.

    Supports major donor cultivation efforts.

    Provides support for other offices as requested.

    May be asked to perform other supportive duties as requested by other Managers.

    Participates in the weekly Major Donor staff meetings and quarterly Development Department all-staff meetings.

    Maintains accurate large donor files.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Ability to communicate with people orally and in writing in a diplomatic, accurate, and pleasant manner.

    Ability to convey with warmth and conviction the Maryknoll Sisters charism.

    Ability to respect and maintain donor confidentiality.

    Ability to manage technical, financial, and legal information.

    English and writing skills; spelling and grammatical accuracy.

    Computer skills including Word Processing, familiarity with mail merge procedures, database, and data entry. Must be highly proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint

    Ability to organize and maintain accurate files and report statistics.

    Attention to detail; ability to make correct judgments.

    Willingness to learn and share competencies that further department goals.

    Willingness to research and learn more about Maryknoll Sisters and their work.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    Bachelor's Degree required.

    1-3 years' experience in administrative/clerical position.

    Computer competencies required.

    Previous work which required organization and reporting of data.
