Position Description: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the FH volunteer program. A successful person in this role should have a strong understanding of each of the FH programs and mission and values in order to exhibit them at all times. The volunteer coordinator will oversee the scheduling, onboarding, and training of all FH volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Community Engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage FH Volunteer Program
- Manage volunteerism and seek out a positive and transformational experience for all volunteers
- Respond to volunteer inquiries (phone, email, application) in a timely manner.
- Vet, schedule, onboard, and train volunteers
- Provide new volunteers with warm hand-offs to program staff
- Train/advise staff who work directly with volunteers
- Maintain a written volunteer waiver and emergency contact process and update as needed
- Share hours and expectations with volunteers and staff and communicate any changes made
- Ensure volunteer drivers sign the agreement and have an understanding of our insurance policy
- Develop new volunteer opportunities as needed that fit FH’s mission
- Be available on-site during volunteer group events as needed
- Manage and enter volunteer data in the database and ensure the mailing list data is current and accurate
- Assist in thanking volunteers (i.e. thank you cards, phone calls, and social media)
- Use volunteer feedback to improve the volunteer program
- Attend resource/community fairs to share about FH volunteer opportunities
Manage In-Kind Donations:
- Keep track of incoming/prospective in-kind donations from the community
- Coordinating drop offs/moving of donations if needed
- Thank organizations and individuals who donate
- Take photos or ensure other staff take photos as needed
- Manage in-kind donations are logged and data is collected
- Manage and enter in-kind donation data in the database
Administrative Assistance:
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including but not limited to, data entry, donor thank you letters, receiving office inquiries, answering office phone, assisting with communications like social media posts, and assisting with fundraisers and events
Required Experience/Skills:
- Clear and effective communication

- Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds
Nice-to-Haves:
- Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
