    About Advokids

    Advokids is the only non-profit legal advocacy organization in California dedicated to securing the safety and well-being of children and youth in the foster care system. We provide the only free statewide legal helpline, legal trainings and online child welfare legal library for anyone concerned about a child in foster care or at risk of entering care. We advocate for systemic reform of the child welfare system to benefit all children in the state.

    Job Purpose

    The Development Operations and Communications Manager serves as a central driver of Advokids’ systems, donor management, and communications, ensuring that program impact, fundraising efforts, and organizational operations are seamlessly connected. This role oversees Salesforce administration and data systems, manages donor records and reporting, and leads the execution of strategic communications and outreach.

    Expectations & Benefits

    This is a full time, non-exempt position working 32 hours per week, Monday - Thursday. Advokids supports a healthy work-life balance and has implemented a 4 day workweek for staff. Compensation is $35-$40 per hour depending on experience, equating to $58,000 - $66,000 annually. Advokids offers its employees a monthly Health Care Costs Reimbursement Program, 401k plan, 4 weeks of PTO annually, plus 12 paid holidays.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Salesforce & Systems Management

    • Serves as the primary salesforce administrator, troubleshooting data inconsistencies and system errors and optimizing data integrity, automations, and reporting – collaborate with external support as needed
    • Manages cross-platform integrations (Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Donorbox, Double-the-Donation, etc)
    • Builds and maintains Salesforce “flow” automations (donations, surveys, intake, case tracking)
    • Creates reports and dashboards for development and program tracking
    • Creates and updates campaigns, naming conventions, and contact/organization records

    Communications & Content

    • Designs and distributes Annual Report, Year End Appeal, and campaign-specific marketing materials and communications in collaboration with Director of Philanthropy
    • Assists with corporate sponsor and foundation engagement materials
    • Develops and manages social media content calendar and campaign rollouts
    • Grows and executes social media strategy to increase audience growth, engagement, and awareness of Advokids’ programs and impact
    • Creates email campaigns via Mailchimp for events, trainings, appeals, awareness, surveys, etc.
    • Designs marketing and presentation materials in Canva (annual report, sponsorship packets, social media posts, slide decks)

    Partnerships & Program Outreach & Awareness

    • Supports outreach to CASA programs, kinship organizations, and foster care networks statewide
    • Builds and maintains outreach lists and contact databases
    • Supports new partnership initiatives and proposals
    • Coordinates email outreach and follow-ups with external partners

    Donor Management

    • Enters, reconciles, and maintains donation data across platforms (Salesforce, Donorbox, Benevity, Greater Giving, etc)
    • Manages donor records and ensures accurate contact information and giving history
    • Processes all donor acknowledgments: thank-you letters, tax receipts, mailing lists
    • Tracks and categorizes all donations (individual, corporate, DAF, event-related)
    • Generates reports from salesforce (campaign tracking, fiscal year comparisons)
    • Creates and manages online donation pages (Donorbox)
    • Provides grant management support

    Event Support & Execution

    • Support the Director of Philanthropy with the Annual Benefit and other smaller events throughout the year
    • Manages event logistics including ticketing, sponsorship tracking, guest lists, and seating
    • Manages backend of event platform Greater Giving (e.g. auction items, bidding numbers, sponsorships, reporting)
    • Coordinates event materials: sponsorship packets, program packets, signage, name tags, slides
    • Designs and distributes outreach and communications for events (email blasts, save-the-dates, RSVP tracking)
    • Contributes to post-event reconciliation, donation tracking, and donor acknowledgements
    • Works with third party vendors to coordinate event logistics

    Required Skills:

    • Salesforce/CRM Management
      • Building reports & dashboards
      • Data process automations / flow building
      • Experience supporting the technical configuration of cross platform integrations with Salesforce
      • Data cleaning and process optimization
    • Marketing/Communications
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp)
      • Social Media content/campaign management (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok)
      • Basic design skills (Canva, Google Slides)
    • Project & Operations Management
      • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities independently
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Ability to quickly learn and develop standard operating procedures
    • Event Planning
      • Event planning support (e.g. ticketing, sponsorships, logistics, follow-up)
    • Technology/Platform Proficiency
      • Proficiency using Google Suite, Salesforce, Zoom, Adobe, Dropbox, Canva, WordPress, SurveyMonkey, GreaterGiving, Double-the-Donation

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of prior professional experience in communications, development, marketing, nonprofit program management or Salesforce administration
    • Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in social service, public administration, or other related field
    • Dedication to the mission and vision of Advokids
    • Knowledge of or an eagerness to learn about the Juvenile Dependency court system
    • Experience in non-profit or social services environment preferred
