    About United Vision for Idaho

United Vision for Idaho is a multi-issue progressive network committed to building a powerful, people-driven movement for lasting, structural change. Since 1997, we’ve been uniting communities—rural, suburban, and urban—through shared purpose, collective action, and a vision for a more just and democratic future.

A strategic force in the national pro-democracy movement, we’re not just defending democracy—we’re transforming it into something more inclusive, resilient, and rooted in the power of everyday people.

UVI is about CENTERING PEOPLE. BUILDING POWER. DEFENDING DEMOCRACY

    About The United Vision Project

Our groundbreaking national training program teaches people how to have authentic relational conversations (ARC) to de-escalate conflict, navigate complex conversations uncovering shared values and finding commonality and depolarize political polarization through daily virtual practice—empowering people to transform their communities from the inside out.

At a time of deep political division, we are stepping into the breach to have conversations across extreme differences to humanize one another, find areas of common understanding and move together toward a more democratic future for our collective wellbeing. This work is reaching people in areas of the country often dismissed to heal and unite our country.

Since 2020, we’ve been connecting people across extreme difference through peer-to-peer texting campaigns and person-to-person outreach across extreme political difference. We believe that collective action and inclusive dialogue are the foundations of transformative culture change which are the precursors for political behavior and outcomes.

UVP is a national program. We are building the infrastructure to grow our visibility, scale our programs, expand national partnerships, and significantly increase our volunteer base across the country— and we are looking for a dynamic, emotionally intelligent person to help grow and sustain our national volunteer base.

If you thrive in fast-moving environments and are excited about scaling impact through people-powered infrastructure, this is an opportunity to make a huge impact. For more check out our website at www.uvidaho.org and our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@UVIdaho

    Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an emotionally mature and results-driven person who brings strategic insight, strong political awareness, and an unshakable commitment to pro-democracy work. This role demands both excellence and innovation, as well as the ability to take initiative in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate understands the opportunity this work presents and embraces the challenge of building something lasting in a rapidly shifting political and cultural landscape and can enthusiastically and professionally promote this work to amplify our impact and increase our volunteer base for our programs.

You must be a self-starter who understands the significance of our work and the level of excellence it demands. We are a team that cultivates creativity and shared leadership, and we are looking for someone who brings both grit and grace to the table—someone who can deliver without needing constant oversight, remain flexible under pressure, and contribute meaningfully to a pioneering movement for national transformation.

This position requires someone who is flexible, self-directed, mission-aligned, and capable of working independently without constant supervision. The candidate will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Associate Director, and play a key role in building infrastructure, growing partnerships, expanding national exposure, strengthening recruitment systems, and representing UVP’s vision with integrity and enthusiasm.

While this role requires strong initiative and the ability to self-direct, it is not independent from collaboration, supervision, or organizational alignment. The Recruitment and Retention Specialist is expected to contribute proactively within the vision and strategy established by UVP, coordinating closely with leadership to ensure all efforts are mission-aligned, timely, and reflective of our values and priorities.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys flexible hours outside of scheduled meetings and trainings, thrives in a remote work setting, and flourishes in an environment built on mutual accountability and results-driven projects.

If you are energized by building something nationally, scaling people-powered infrastructure, amplifying pro-democracy work, and driving measurable volunteer growth across the country, we want to hear from you.

    Position Overview

The National Engagement & Recruitment Lead plays a critical national growth role in broadcasting and amplifying UVP’s work, spotlighting our programming, and expanding ways for people across the country to take action.

    This position is responsible for:

    • Promoting volunteer opportunities with the United Vision Project at a national scale
    • Expanding, supporting, energizing, and recruiting new volunteers
    • Building and managing a measurable, trackable recruitment and retention system
    • Growing and sustaining a strong, engaged, and active national volunteer base

You will illustrate participation as powerful action—making meaning of volunteer involvement and connecting everyday outreach work to the broader pro-democracy movement, especially in efforts to counter polarization, disinformation, and the rise of authoritarianism in vulnerable and rural communities across the country.

This role is both public-facing and systems-driven. It requires someone who can amplify visibility externally, serve as a compelling spokesperson for the organization, and simultaneously build durable recruitment and retention infrastructure internally.

    The Opportunity

As the National Engagement & Recruitment Lead, you will:

    • Increase organizational exposure and public visibility nationwide
    • Expand our national volunteer texting program
    • Build and optimize recruitment systems
    • Strengthen retention and engagement pipelines
    • Serve as an enthusiastic and professional liaison representing UVP and our programming to the media, partners, volunteers, and aligned organizations

You will play a key role in translating outreach into sustained participation — ensuring volunteers move from initial interest to training, onboarding, active engagement, and long-term leadership.

This is not just a recruitment role.

It is a national growth, visibility, volunteer expansion, and movement-building role.

    What You’ll Do

Grow Organizational Exposure & National Audience Reach

    • Identify and secure opportunities to spotlight UVI’s work through podcasts, television, radio, guest speaking engagements, and other public forums
    • Create and cultivate a national network to develop and promote UVI’s work
    • Foster strategic relationships to highlight UVI and our programming nationally
    • Proactively identify new platforms, coalitions, and partnerships that increase national exposure and volunteer recruitment
    • Promote volunteer opportunities across Mobilize, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Substack, and partner networks
    • Expand organizational and programmatic visibility through outreach to aligned organizations and national movement partners
    • Design and distribute compelling graphics for social media
    • Lead outreach and coordination for podcast appearances and other earned media opportunities that elevate UVI’s stories and attract new volunteers and partners.
    • Manage UVI’s Substack publication, including publishing case studies, tracking analytics (open rates, subscriber growth, engagement), and reporting insights to inform recruitment strategy.
    • Oversee and implement consistent social media activity across priority platforms, repurposing case studies and podcast content to strengthen volunteer recruitment and retention.

Build and Manage Recruitment Systems for the United Vision Project (UVP)

    • Optimize event listings and recruitment flows
    • Develop and maintain a structured recruitment pipeline from interest → training → onboarding → sustained engagement
    • Track monthly recruitment targets and performance metrics
    • Maintain recruitment dashboards and conduct retention analysis
    • Identify patterns in volunteer engagement, growth, and drop-off
    • Manage data transfers across Airtable, Excel, and Action Network (CRM)
    • Produce clear and consistent reports on recruitment and retention outcomes

Strengthen UVP Volunteer Retention & Engagement

    • Design strategic communication for volunteers at every stage of their journey
    • Maintain relationships to ensure movement through training and active participation
    • Monitor engagement health and proactively intervene to improve retention
    • Support monthly growth goals through consistent recruitment and retention outcomes

Represent UVI with Professionalism & Enthusiasm

    • Act as a trusted, enthusiastic liaison to movement partners and politically aligned organizations
    • Deliver training opportunities to partner networks
    • Represent UVI’s vision, values, and mission with clarity, integrity, and professionalism
    • Help position UVI and our programming as a visible, credible national leader in pro-democracy organizing

    Who You Are

    • An enthusiastic and professional spokesperson who can represent UVI and our programming, generate excitement, promote our work across multiple platforms, and secure opportunities that lead to substantial growth in exposure and volunteer recruitment
    • A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability
    • Imaginative and bold in outreach
    • Proven track record of growing programs, networks, movements, or volunteer bases
    • Results-driven and comfortable tracking measurable growth goals
    • Politically aware and deeply committed to democracy defense and social justice
    • Skilled in digital organizing and online volunteer engagement
    • Relational, inclusive, and emotionally mature
    • Highly organized and systems-oriented
    • Comfortable working remotely in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

    Qualifications:

    Existing media contacts preferred

Experience with Mobilize, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Substack

    Proficiency using Airtable

    Why This Role Matters
