Mission Doctors Association (MDA) supports Catholic healthcare professionals who provide life-saving care and training in underserved communities around the world. With over 65 years of service, MDA recruits, trains, and supports doctors and their families to serve in long- and short-term mission assignments. Our team is small, collaborative, and dedicated to making a global impact through faith and medicine.
Position Summary
The Development Associate / Office Manager plays a key dual role in ensuring the effective operation of both our donor development efforts and day-to-day administrative functions. This position is ideal for a mission-driven professional who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent written communication abilities, and a genuine interest in supporting global Catholic healthcare missions.
Primary Responsibilities
Development Support (Approximately 60%)
- Maintain and manage the donor database (CRM); ensure accurate and timely data entry, gift processing, and acknowledgments.
- Generate mailing lists, reports, and donor profiles for appeals, events, and stewardship efforts.
- Support donor engagement and stewardship, including thank-you calls, personalized follow-ups, and occasional donor visits and events.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for fundraising events, such as the annual gala and donor luncheons.
Office Management (Approximately 40%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for office operations, including ordering supplies, handling mail, and coordinating maintenance needs.
- Maintain organizational records, files, and insurance documentation.
- Support the Executive Director and other team members with scheduling, travel arrangements, events, and meeting preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit development, administrative support, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
- Experience with CRM databases (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, DonorPerfect, etc.).
- Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to internal teams, board members, or external audiences.
- Comfort with learning new technology and managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Mission Doctors Association.
- A strong appreciation for Catholic Social Teaching is preferred.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, in-office position with some flexibility for hybrid work.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special events.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., event materials).
