POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position provides timely and accurate processing of all day-to-day Accounting operations and project accounting work.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all Accounts Payable
- Reconciles Payroll to the General Ledger on a bi-weekly basis
- Manages year-end 1099s process
- Acts as the primary point of contact and processes all Accounts Payable requests (checks, ACHs, and wires)
- Supports month-end closing, including timely and accurate cash account reconciliation
- Assists with annual budgeting and forecasting
- Performs year-end closing procedures and annual audit preparation accurately and timely
- Manages reconciliation of corporate credit cards monthly
- Reviews Accounting processes and makes suggestions for improvements
- Supports ad-hoc projects as directed by the Director of Finance
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5-7 years of accounting and/or Finance experience
- Abila/MIP accounting software experience preferred
- ADP Workforce Now experience required
- Microsoft Office experience. Advanced Excel experience preferred
- Member-based nonprofit experience preferred
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills including database/spreadsheet skills, accounting software, MS Office and Internet.
- Must be extremely organized, possess a sense of urgency, exceptional organizational and follow up skills.
- Knowledge of Accounting and Finance procedures for a non-profit organization
- Professional self-starter, with the ability to work independently, without much supervision, as well as work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to prioritize ever-changing priorities.
- Ability to take direction from multiple people.
- Ability to create and maintain processes and policies.
