Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB) works to ensure that families across the Washington, DC region have access to the diapers and other essentials they need to thrive. Founded in 2010, GDCDB has grown into one of the largest diaper banks in the country, working alongside more than 80 community partners across DC, Maryland, and Virginia to get millions of free diapers into the hands of families each year.

Position Summary
Greater DC Diaper Bank is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to lead our digital marketing and social media strategy, serving as the primary storyteller and content creator across our online channels, with additional responsibility for broader communications support.
This role combines strategy and hands-on execution, working closely across the organization to create clear, compelling, accessible content that increases awareness around diaper insecurity and inspires engagement with the organization. Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Social Media Strategy
- Own GDCDB's social media strategy and day-to-day execution across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, driving audience growth, engagement, and community connection.
- Manage GDCDB's social media presence with a focus on community engagement and brand integrity.
- Test and iterate on content formats, timing, and messaging based on platform performance data.
- Plan and execute social media campaigns in partnership with volunteer programs to support product drives and other community engagement initiatives.
- Oversee and update an annual marketing and communications plan that elevates GDCDB's issue, brand, and impact and strengthens engagement across key audiences.
- Track, test, and analyze campaign performance and recommend data-informed improvements to inform ongoing strategy and content decisions.
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Manage and maintain a content calendar across channels, including social, website, and email.
- Develop community-centered stories that highlight families, partners, volunteers, and supporters and illustrate GDCDB’s impact.
- Capture photography and short-form video at events, volunteer sessions, and partner visits.
- Produce high-quality, on-brand graphics and everyday creative assets using Canva.
Channel & Digital Platform Management
- Ensure website updates, coordinating non-technical edits and content refreshes.
- Ensure accessibility best practices are followed across all digital communications.
- Manage GDCDB’s email communications program, including newsletters, partner communications, and other audience-specific email streams, working with appropriate internal teams on content and priorities and leading content planning, audience segmentation, scheduling, and performance analysis.
Fundraising Communications and Digital Engagement
- Partner with the development team to support digital fundraising campaigns, bringing expertise in digital strategy, audience engagement, and communications best practices.
- Build and optimize fundraising emails, landing pages, donation pages, and other digital campaign assets, with a focus on engagement and conversion.
- Review and strengthen digital and direct mail fundraising communications for clarity, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational messaging and brand.
- Develop strategies to deepen engagement across GDCDB's community, including converting volunteers to donors, donors to volunteers, and other supporters to deeper forms of involvement.
Systems Building & Infrastructure
- Create and document marketing & communications processes, templates, style guides, and workflows.
- Strengthen communications systems and digital engagement practices to support scalable, measurable growth.
Additional Collateral & Cross-Department Partnership
- Lead development of key GDCDB assets, including the annual report and marketing collateral such as one-pagers and presentations, in partnership with organizational leadership, coordinating content, design, and production.
- In partnership with GDCDB's volunteer programs, develop and implement strategies to engage volunteers, strengthen their connection to GDCDB's mission and impact, and encourage new and continued involvement.
- Coordinate with external creative or strategic partners as needed, including GDCDB's public relations consultant, to support media relations and earn media opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships across teams to ensure communications accurately reflect GDCDB's work, priorities, and impact.
- Collaborate with the development, programs, and operations teams to ensure consistent messaging and streamlined collaboration.
- Support all staff in understanding and using brand guidelines and organizational messaging.
- Attend events, including some evenings and occasional weekends, to support content capture and live storytelling.
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing social media campaigns, including experience creating compelling content for Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, with results in audience growth or engagement.
- Four+ years of progressively responsible experience in digital marketing, social media, communications, or related roles.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into snackable, compelling, audience-appropriate content across channels.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, relationships, and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments, build trust, gather input, and provide communications guidance.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for digital content.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of projects from strategy through execution.
- Located in the Washington, DC region with the ability to attend events, site visits, and community activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to GDCDB's mission and to ensuring families across our region have access to the essentials they need.
Preferred
- Experience working in nonprofit, community-based, or other mission-driven communications.
- Experience capturing quality photography and short-form video for digital communications.
- Proficient in Canva or similar tools, with the ability to produce polished, on-brand graphics, layouts, and communications materials.
- Experience supporting fundraising, donor communications, volunteer engagement, or other constituent engagement strategies.
- Experience using email marketing, CRM, and audience engagement platforms, including audience segmentation and performance tracking.
- Experience using analytics, testing, and performance data to strengthen digital communications and campaigns.
- Familiarity with website content management systems and basic SEO principles.
