    Overview

    Democracy Now!’s Development Associate manages the donor database, from overseeing data hygiene to generating mailing lists, reports, and gift acknowledgment letters; assists with individual and foundation prospect research; plays a critical role in donor and audience engagement for donors $1 to $999. This position reports to the Director of Development.

    Responsibilities

    Data Management

    • Oversee data entry and database management, ensuring that all data is clean, deduplicated, accurate, and entered in a timely manner; assist with routine data audits.
    • Ensure prompt acknowledgment for all gifts
    • Prepare, review and submit deposits to the finance department as needed.
    • Create and document protocols and procedures for data entry and database best practices.
    • Generate reports, lists, and custom queries; manage all data imports and exports.
    • Assist the Director of Development in conducting monthly reconciliations with the finance department.
    • Monitor payment processing and provide analysis and reports as needed.

    Donor Relations

    • Oversee the handling of incoming donor phone calls and voicemail messages.
    • Handle all email correspondence with donors who contribute between $1 and $999 to Democracy Now! annually.
    • Support monthly sustainers in updating or changing their monthly contributions.
    • Manage the fulfillment of donor thank you gifts including inventory oversight.
    • Support the Director of Development in maintaining moves management records.
    • Assist with donor stewardship, audience engagement events and fundraisers.

    Other

    • Assist with departmental administrative duties.
    • Stay up to date with best practices in data management and prospect research.
    • Assign work and provide training and mentorship for Development department interns
    • Assist the Director of Development in developing strategies for identifying prospective individual donors and foundation funders.
    • Perform research on current and prospective donors.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising
    • Familiarity with and commitment to the mission of Democracy Now!
    • Experience with donor or constituent databases, experience with CiviCRM a plus
    • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent organization skills, and attention to detail

    Compensation

    • Salary: $72,241

    Other Information

    • This is an NYC-based position with in-person work requirements.
    • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Democracy Now! and SAG-AFTRA.
