    Consumer Debt Court Guide

    As a Consumer Debt Court Guide at Clarifi you will act as a support for Philadelphians navigating consumer debt lawsuits in Philadelphia’s Municipal Court, providing neutral information and guidance for clients navigating the court system. Working inside Municipal Court, you will offer in-person supportive services, equipping defendants with the information and resources they need to confidently seek the best possible outcome. With a people-first mindset, you will inspire and equip clients to overcome any fear or confusion they may be experiencing regarding their day in court.

    Ideal candidates for this role have:

    • 3 years’ experience in customer service, financial support, legal support, or related field
    • Knowledge of legal aid systems and court procedure preferred but not required
    • Fluency in English required; Spanish fluency is preferred
    • Proficiency with Office 365, client management software, and web-based applications

    Day to Day Tasks:

    In-Person Court Guidance

    • With the help of partners and premade training materials, maintain subject matter expertise and up-to-date knowledge of Municipal Court procedures.
    • Greet clients in court, explain court procedures in plain language, and help clients connect with court accommodations (disability, language services, etc.).
    • Offer clear and neutral information about court processes, potential outcomes, and available options, helping defendants understand their rights and next steps.
    • Connect clients with legal services, financial counseling, and community-based support to address immediate needs and longer-term stability.
    • Document general patterns in court processes and share insights to inform evaluation and continuous improvement.
    • Build professional relationships within Municipal Court, ensuring a close connection between Court staff and Clarifi.

    Remote Client Support

    • After initial intake is completed by Program Navigators, follow up via phone and email to advise client on next steps, esp. regarding upcoming court dates.
    • Maintain and update client accounts with precision and care, logging which clients plan to attend court on which days.
    • Clearly communicate available options and connect clients to valuable community resources, including legal aid when necessary.
    • Managing a low-volume call flow (5to10calls/day) during remote and/or Center City hours.

    Administrative

    • Support program outreach by contributing to broader engagement to strengthen program reach and impact.
    • Perform system functions related to client records and data management.
    • Represent Clarifi at workshops and community events as needed.
    • Compose professional correspondence and presentations.
    • Execute special projects and assignments as directed.

    Travel:

    • This position is based at both Philadelphia Municipal Court (1339 Chestnut St, Phila, PA 19107) and Clarifi’s Center City office (1635 Market St, Phila, PA 19103) and requires travel within Philadelphia and Southeastern PA as needed.
    • Work schedule: Monday–Friday 8:30AM – 5PM
    • Full-time, in-person role required, with limited flex hours.
      • Court Guide will work in-person at Municipal Court from 8:30AM until Court closes (varies, most oftenbetween12PM – 5PM), Monday – Friday.
      • Court Guide will finish the workday at Clarifi Center City office or remotely from home, depending on schedule.
