    Position: Finance Manager and Bookkeeper

Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid, minimum 3 days onsite)

    Organization Type: Non-Profit | Arts & Culture

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Employment Type: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)

    Company Overview

Creative Growth Art Center is a studio and gallery that supports artists with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. We provide a professional studio environment, gallery exhibition and representation, and community building.

    Position Summary

The Finance Manager and Bookkeeper is responsible for the accurate and timely management of Creative Growth’s complex financial records across diverse earned and contributed revenue streams. This role ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, supports audit readiness, and provides reliable financial data to inform organizational decisions.

The Finance Manager works closely with the Executive Director, contracted financial partners—including a fractional CFO, external accounting firm, and independent auditors—and staff across departments during an exciting period of growth for Creative Growth. A key priority in this transitional phase is strengthening financial systems, documenting workflows, and integrating platforms to build long-term clarity, accountability, and sustainability.

We’re seeking someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and excited about nonprofit finance—not just the numbers, but the people and purpose behind them. The right candidate will serve as the financial “glue” of the organization: connecting programs, operations, and leadership through clear systems and strong fiscal management. This person thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates clearly, and enjoys helping others understand and engage with the financial side of our work.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Reconcile monthly bank statements, credit card activity (Ramp), inventory, Stripe and GiveButter and some petty cash.
    • Accurately track restricted vs. unrestricted funds, TRNA tracking.
    • Support Development team with grant proposals and grant reporting

    Contracted Financial Partners

    • Collaborate with the fractional CFO on cash flow analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
    • Ensure timely monthly closes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
