Join Friends of the Arava Institute as a Recruitment & Alumni Relations Officer leading student outreach and engagement for a mission-driven, international nonprofit.

Help connect students across North America to a one-of-a-kind environmental program in the Middle East.

At Friends of the Arava Institute (FAI), recruitment is not just about enrollment—it’s about building a network of students and alumni committed to environmental cooperation across borders. We support the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, where students from Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and around the world come together to learn, collaborate, and develop solutions to shared environmental challenges. Your work will expand access to this experience and strengthen the relationships that sustain it.

    The Opportunity

We seek a Recruitment & Alumni Relations Officer who is energized by the intersection of higher education, environmental sustainability, and cross-border cooperation. You’ll lead North American student recruitment and alumni engagement efforts, building strong university relationships, managing the recruitment pipeline, and sustaining connections that support long-term program growth.

    • Lead student recruitment through campus outreach, presentations, events, and virtual engagement
    • Manage prospective students through the recruitment pipeline from initial inquiry through enrollment
    • Maintain recruitment platforms (e.g., Handshake, GoAbroad) and track outreach activity and recruitment metrics
    • Engage alumni through ongoing outreach and a monthly newsletter to strengthen connection and visibility
    • Coordinate logistics for campus visits, recruitment travel, and alumni speaking tours

    Schedule & Travel

U.S.-based role with significant domestic travel for campus outreach and events, as well as periodic international travel.

    • Experience managing outreach or recruitment pipelines
    • Comfort working independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team
    • U.S. work authorization and willingness to travel frequently

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You:

    • Enjoy meeting people, building relationships, and representing a mission in diverse settings
    • Are proactive and self-directed, with strong follow-through on long-term outreach efforts
    • Are adaptable and comfortable navigating changing recruitment conditions
