MSP is seeking a Project Manager with experience in renewable energy development to manage all aspects of project development, shepherding projects from their early stages through the completion of the project. They will perform desktop analyses of potential sites, coordinate project engineering and the submission of interconnection applications, prepare project cost estimates, manage project operations, and interface directly with municipalities.
Job Responsibilities
- Project Development (60%)
- Performing desktop evaluations of sites using Paces software
- Collaborating with project engineers on site layout, site design, and interconnection applications
- Developing project schedules, budgets, and plans
- Drafting pro formas and estimating project costs
- Working closely with engineer and municipal officials to secure project permitting
- Drafting RFP responses
- Managing project operations including contracts, invoices, and payments
- Coordinating project teams including external stakeholders and contractors
- Client Management (30%)
- Researching relevant federal, state, and municipal laws and ordinances
- Conducting initial outreach to prospective municipal partners
- Drafting project status reports for municipal officials
- Presenting to municipalities
- Serving as day-to-day contact for municipal officials and other project partners
- Project tracking and monitoring (10%)
- Designing and maintaining a tracker that includes project timelines, tasks, and budgets
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field
- At least 2 years of development, construction, energy sector, or equivalent experience. Prior experience in project management is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of solar energy systems and project lifecycle
- Ability to stay organized while juggling many different projects at once
- Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset and skills
- Self-motivation and a high level of attention to detail
- Familiarity with permitting, public procurement, interconnection, and utility coordination processes
- A demonstrated interest in the renewable energy sector and publicly-owned power
