    Director of Youth Programs

    Full-Time | Hybrid (Remote and In-Person)

    Reports to the Executive Director

    At HiTOPS, we believe every young person deserves a place where they can be seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

    The Director of Youth Programs leads the organization's direct services for LGBTQ+ youth and their families, creating spaces where young people find connection, develop leadership skills, and build community. This role oversees our signature support groups, supervises graduate-level social work interns, develops youth leaders, and manages one of our nationally recognized programs, the Trans Youth Forum.

    The Director of Youth Programs will join a small, collaborative leadership team where every staff member has meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to shape the future of the organization.

    Member Services

    • Manage and facilitate three, weekly, hybrid peer support groups for LGBTQ+ youth, and one virtual peer support group for caregivers of trans and non-binary youth
    • Manage and staff weekly Drop-In programming
    • Maintain resource and provider database; respond to member resource and referral requests
    • Maintain member files and ensure accurate documentation
    • Manage data collection for Youth Programs

    MSW Field Placement Supervision

    • Interview, select, and manage MSW interns; provide field instruction and task supervision
    • Manage intake process for prospective support group members
    • Develop activity plans, complete attendance and observation notes for Support Groups
    • Manage the coordination of special programs and events

    Youth Leadership

    • Recruit, select, and manage volunteer youth leaders for the Trans Youth Advisory Board (TYAB) and Young Adult Spot (YAS).
    • Develop youth leaders’ skills and confidence in project management, public speaking, HiTOPS promotion, etc.

    Trans Youth Forum

    • Manage production for the Trans Youth Forum, including identifying and hiring talent, preparing youth leaders for interviews, video production, promotion, run-of-show, and community watch party coordination

    Communications and Organizational Events

    • Provide support for the planning and implementation of volunteer-led friend-raising events
    • Provide program-relevant content for social media, website, and other promotional materials

    Requirements:

    Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related degree required. Master of Social Work strongly preferred

    • Minimum four years experience:
      • Working with youth and their families, experience with queer youth preferred
      • Group facilitation, preferably in a hybrid live/virtual format
      • Supervising graduate level interns
      • Volunteer coordination
      • Special projects/event planning and implementation
      • Collaborating with community partners
    • Resourceful, energetic, organized, creative, flexible, collaborative
    • Demonstrated commitment to diverse populations, the youth voice, positive sexual health, and queer youth
