Supervising Attorney

The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) seeks a full-time Supervising Attorney for our Los Angeles Office. Salary range is $95,000 to $120,000 – based on experience as a supervisor and in immigration law.

Since its founding in 2004, ICWC has become a national expert in humanitarian-based immigration cases assisting survivors of trauma and has served over 75,000 people. ICWC strives to provide security and stability for children who are abused, abandoned, or neglected and for immigrants who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. The offices primarily work with federal immigration laws that allow marginalized immigrants apply for work authorization and permanent residency. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Supervising Attorney is responsible for providing high-quality immigration legal representation while leading and mentoring a team of attorneys and legal assistants. The position oversees legal services for a diverse caseload that includes unaccompanied children, asylum seekers, survivors of violence, and families pursuing humanitarian and family-based immigration relief. Responsibilities include supervising case strategy, reviewing legal filings, conducting regular case consultations, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, monitoring program performance and grant deliverables, and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and trauma-informed, client-centered advocacy.

The Supervising Attorney maintains a limited caseload of complex immigration matters before USCIS, EOIR, state courts, and other relevant agencies, while providing technical guidance on evolving immigration law and policy. The position works closely with program leadership to implement federal, state, local, and foundation-funded grants; support quality assurance initiatives; analyze program data and outcomes; and identify opportunities to expand services and improve client access. The Supervising Attorney also represents the organization through community education, coalition participation, stakeholder meetings, and partnerships with courts, schools, social service agencies, and government entities. This role plays a critical part in advancing the organization's mission to provide high-quality legal services, protect the rights of immigrants, and promote justice for vulnerable communities.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in immigration law practice
• Bar License to practice in California or willing to sit for next CA bar exam
• Spanish language professional competency or willing to do immersion program to solidify skills
• Experience supervising employees
• U visa, VAWA, SIJS, and/or asylum experience (including law school clinic experience and internships)

Other Qualifications:

• A demonstrated interest in low-income legal services and/or a commitment to supporting immigrants' rights
• Ability to work effectively with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with representatives of government
