    About the Role

    As our Nebraska Organizer, you will be responsible for leading and growing the network of workers, grassroots community members, and coalition partners that are engaged in our campaigns to win community benefits agreements and worker-centered equity policies. You will pay special attention to organizing workers at a specific worksite and building a coalition of community, labor, environmental, and workforce organizations to advance a shared vision of racial equity and worker power.

    This is a one-year position that may be extended depending on future campaign opportunities.

    What You’ll Do

    Community and worker engagement

    • Develop and drive JMA’s field coordination efforts in the metro region of Lincoln to organize workers and community members to win community benefits campaigns with Nebraska-based companies
    • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with workers, community members, and coalition partners through consistent 1:1 engagement and follow-up
    • Conduct outreach, interviews, surveys, and power mapping to support base-building and strategy development
    • Mobilize community members and workers to participate in campaigns, leadership development opportunities, and advocacy efforts
    • Facilitate or contribute to trainings, meetings, or events designed to build political education and organizing capacity

    Campaign development

    • Develop and implement local campaign strategies in coordination with Jobs to Move America’s staff and partners, including organizing tactics and coalition activities
    • Produce campaign materials such as talking points, organizing raps, outreach tools, and turnout plans
    • Represent Jobs to Move America in external settings such as community meetings, advocacy forums, and with media or public officials
    • Track campaign progress and interactions using administrative tools and databases, such as Salesforce

    Coalition building

    • Recruit new organizational partners to join or support our coalitions and advocacy efforts
    • Develop and lead monthly coalition meetings
    • Act as an effective spokesperson for JMA’s vision, work, and campaigns and represent JMA in high-stakes meetings with decision-makers

    Contribute to Organizational Development

    • Support fundraising, participate in organization-wide committees and trainings (not to exceed 15% of time)
    • Foster a collaborative, feedback-rich, and equity-centered team culture

    What You Bring

    Core Experience

    • 4+ years of experience organizing with workers, community groups, and/or unions to win comprehensive strategic campaigns

    Key Skills & Strengths

    • Excellent communication and social skills including the ability to develop new contacts and build transformational relationships with workers
    • Experience facilitating meetings, building consensus, and coordinating across stakeholders
    • Proven ability to build relationships across race, class, and identity lines
    • High level of follow-through and accountability with both internal and external commitments
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic campaign environment
    • Maintain good judgment, creative thinking, and flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and seize emerging opportunities
    • Comfort operating in dynamic, politically nuanced environments
    • Alignment with JMA’s mission and a strong understanding of the political and philanthropic landscape shaping social justice movements

    Additional

    • Access to a reliable, insured vehicle for regular work-related travel
    • Proficiency with standard workplace tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office)

    Preferred

    • Knowledge of the political and community landscape within Lincoln and/or Nebraska
    • Knowledge of workforce development systems, union partnerships, or environmental justice work
    • Additional language proficiency or lived experience relevant to the communities served by JMA

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary: $65,000-$83,000 (based on experience and location)
    • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision (employee + dependents)
