    WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

    Job Type: Full-Time

    Reports To: Workforce Development Program Manager

    Work Location: Washington, DC, with some remote work

    About Black Women Thriving East of the River (BWTEotR)

    BWTEotR is a radically inclusive organization that is transforming inequitable and racially unjust workforce development and healthcare systems for Black women living in DC’s historically marginalized Wards 7 & 8. Founded in 2019, BWTEotR directly addresses the health and economic disparities embedded within “East of the River” neighborhoods through systems, narrative, and policy change.

    Job Summary

    BWTEotR seeks a proactive, detail-oriented Workforce Development Associate to provide essential administrative, logistical, and technical support to the Workforce Development Program Manager and the Advocacy Director. This is a versatile role that supports the strategic execution of programs that empower our community through skill-building and employment, while also assisting efforts to influence key policies and decision-makers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in data management, and eager to contribute to both operational and mission-driven goals.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    Workforce Development Program Support

    The Associate will support the Workforce Development Program Manager by ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of all fellowship implementation tasks.

    • Program Logistics and Coordination:
      • Manage the scheduling, setup, and logistics for cohort workshops and informational sessions (both in-person and virtual)
      • Data Collection: Assist the Program Manager in collecting, compiling, and aggregating key performance data, case notes, and success stories to support timely reports and resources that demonstrate progress and inform next steps.
      • Take notes during meetings, transfer action items to the organization’s project management system, and ensure timely follow-ups.
      • Support and/or lead workforce development program components
      • Assist with engaging Pathways Fellows as ambassadors who support outreach, storytelling, and inform systems change.
    • Participant and Data Management
      • Maintain the integrity of the Workforce Development Program Drive, ensuring all fellow records, outcomes, and follow-up data are accurately entered and updated in a timely manner.
      • Assist in the collection and aggregation of program data, case notes, and success stories for grant reporting and program evaluation.
    • Partner & Logistics Coordination:
      • Implementation Partner Support: Handle all administrative and logistical needs related to program consultants and implementation partners, including scheduling meetings, tracking deliverables, and processing related invoices.
      • Logistics Management: Manage scheduling, setup, and logistics for training cohorts, workshops, job fairs, and informational sessions (both in-person and virtual).
    • Outreach and Engagement
      • Assist with the administrative tasks of the recruitment and intake process, including application processing and follow-up communication.
      • Support the Manager’s external relations by preparing necessary materials for meetings with community groups, funders, and multi-sector partners.

    Advocacy and Policy Support

    The Workforce Development Associate will support the Advocacy Director’s efforts to advance the organization’s policy priorities.

    • Research and Monitoring
      • Track and summarize relevant news, legislative activity, and policy changes at the local and state levels
      • Assist in gathering background research for policy briefs, white papers, and advocacy campaigns.
    • Communication and Materials
      • Format, proofread, and prepare advocacy materials, including presentations, meeting agendas, and fact sheets for external dissemination.

    General Administration

    • Manage and prioritize the calendars and scheduling for the program leadership.
    • Maintain organized physical supplies and electronic drives.

    Key Qualifications

    • Deep belief in Black Women Thriving East of the River’s mission
    • 2-4 years of relevant administrative and program experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
    • Exceptional organizational and impeccable time management skills: strong attention to detail, can strategically manage multiple workstreams, and stay ahead of deadlines
    • Attentive to detail and accountable to others, can operate at a quick pace with minimal supervision
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace and related technical systems, with an ability to learn new software easily
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
    • Demonstrated cultural humility and understanding of systems of oppression, equity, and inclusion

    Work Environment

    This position is open to candidates in the Washington, DC area. Black women who reside East of the River are also encouraged to apply. Black Women Thriving East of the River has a flexible, hybrid working environment. This position requires 2-3 days of in-person work per week.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Black Women Thriving East of the River provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 4-day work week, unlimited sick time, annual office closures for a spring break week, a fall reset week, and a winter break during the last two weeks of the calendar year, in addition to a generous paid vacation allowance. We also offer employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums, a 401(k) retirement plan with a match, access to health and flexible spending accounts, and life insurance.
