    ROLE PURPOSE AND OPPORTUNITY

    This is a wonderfully social and meaningful role that includes:

    • Being a point of contact and support for volunteers
    • Nurturing a sense of community for volunteers in the local area
    • A beautiful opportunity to nurture community, connection, and gentle leadership in action

    KEY DETAILS

    • Approx. 8 hours per week, Remote work (opportunity to attend local in-person events)
    • Funded role: £15 per hour
    • Contract: Self-employed freelance contractor (invoicing required)
    • Duration: Initial 12-month funded contract. Any extension subject to future funding.
    • Liaises with CEO, Volunteer Events Coordinator(s) and team
    • We are looking for someone based in or very near to East Sussex with good knowledge of the area

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Working in partnership with the CEO and Local Events Coordinator(s) to support the volunteer community.
    • Welcoming and supporting newly qualified volunteers, helping them feel valued, confident, and connected as they begin their volunteering journey.
    • Providing ongoing encouragement, guidance, and a listening ear.
    • Serving as a consistent point of contact for volunteers.
    • Keeping up to date volunteer records.
    • Liaising with the Events Coordinator to identify and recruit volunteers for events and activities when needed.
    • Helping to foster a culture of kindness, care, connection, and mutual support throughout the volunteer community.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

    • Strong communication, listening and people skills
    • A warm and open disposition
    • Organised, reliable, responsive and solution-orientated
    • Basic IT skills (email, google forms, WhatsApp)
    • Ability to work independently while being part of a wider team
    • Passion for human connection, inclusion and gentle presence
    • A desire to serve others

    A Touch of Gentleness is a heart-led not for profit CIC (Community Interest Company) offering free hand massage and gentle listening presence to individuals in the community and in organisations. Through this service we are helping to shape a more compassionate culture. One that is grounded in generosity, gentleness, joy and peace.

    We currently work with more than 90 organisations and charities, supporting people in settings including healthcare, care homes, prisons, refugee services, homelessness projects and local community groups, as well as members of the public.
