    Description

    Congregation Mishkan Israel (CMI) is a historic, social action–oriented Reform congregation of approximately 400 families located just outside New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1840, CMI is the oldest synagogue in Connecticut and the oldest continually operating synagogue in New England. Our mid‑century modern building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a vibrant center for prayer, learning, and tikkun olam.

    Position Overview

    Congregation Mishkan Israel seeks a Part‑Time “Campaign Coordinator” (approximately 20 hours per week) to support the planning and implementation of a major fundraising campaign and to actively help drive fundraising momentum. The Campaign Coordinator will work closely with clergy, professional staff, campaign leadership, and lay volunteers to ensure smooth operations, clear communication, and consistent forward progress toward campaign fundraising goals throughout the campaign.

    Key Responsibilities

    Campaign Administration & Operations

      • Serve as administrative and organizational support for the Campaign.
      • Efficiently and thoroughly manage campaign administrative needs including maintaining files and the donor database, creating and updating tracking systems, preparing progress reports, providing clerical assistance, and collaborating with coworkers.
      • Support Campaign Committee members by managing timelines, tracking action items, and helping ensure follow‑through on fundraising goals
    • Monitor campaign progress against fundraising benchmarks and support leadership in maintaining momentum toward campaign goals.
    • Support day‑to‑day coordination of the campaign, including maintaining and regularly updating the gift table, prospect pipeline, and master prospect list.
      • Help maintain a list of recognition opportunities and gift acceptance policies.
      • Prepare materials for briefing, stewardship and solicitation meetings.
      • Process campaign invoices and track and reconcile expenses.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Donor & Prospect Support

      • Respond to donor questions in a timely and professional manner.
      • Hep develop campaign proposals, reports, templates, website updates, and general correspondence.
      • Draft gift acknowledgments and ensure completion of recognition materials.
      • Assist in the development of personalized donor appreciation messages.
      • Manage all campaign mailings and mailing lists.
      • Serve as a point of contact for campaign committee members and volunteer leaders
    • Coordinate committee meetings, including scheduling, agendas, materials, and follow‑up notes, with attention to advancing solicitation activity and next steps.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of campaign volunteers.

    Event Planning and Management

      • Coordinate and support campaign events
      • Coordinate invitation design, pull and review mailing lists, and take RSVPs.

    Gift Processing and Pledge Management:

    • Process all campaign gifts.
    • Record all pledge agreements and manage the pledge tracking and fulfillment process.

    Prospect Research:

    • Identify and research current and prospective donors, create donor profiles, and assist in the development of solicitation plans.

    Communications & Materials

      • Assist in drafting, assembling, and distributing campaign materials.
      • Ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy in campaign communications.
      • Support coordination between clergy, staff, consultants, and volunteer leadership.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong attention to detail and administrative organizational skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple assignments, and utilize proactive communication.
    • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with colleagues, donors,

    volunteers, and vendors.

    • Written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and capacity to learn and utilize a fundraising database.
    • Experience with Shulcloud or similar databases is a plus.
    • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for donor events.

    Level of Language Proficiency
